It's pretty clear by now that there is no health care solution that is going to make more than a few percent of the poeple feel that they are getting a fair shake. Everybody else will have a horror story of what happened with their claim, or the claim of someone they know. Besides which, most will feel that they are paying to much in premiums or taxes.

Why would politicians undertake to make health care a government function, since it just be a huge, chronic headache for them, and it will inevitably cause their standing with the public to sink to ever lower depths.

3. I'm reasonably happy with my MedicAid too. Just add coverage for eyeglasses and teeth and
I would be even happier.

2. No system is perfect but Medicare works -
look at all the Medicare recipients who don't want the government "messin' with it".

I don't think the public option (as written in HR3200) will work because it is far too slow to ramp up and the whole bill does too much to protect the private insurers. The only thing that will work for all of us is to start expanding Medicare to the rest of the population.

4. They seem to do a fair job with military health care and the VA. They
also have a very good government workers health care plan.

8. They have *fantastic* plans.
My dad gets his care through the VA and my mom through the government worker's plan. Our family would have lost everything if we hadn't had that insurance. Their claims were handled quickly and professionally and they had a choice of doctors.

It's *soooo* not the end of the world if most people end up on the public option. The health insurance industry squanders at least 30% of every health care dollar you spend on obscene salaries and perks.

The only reason you're hearing all of this kerfluffle over the public option is because the insurance industry knows damn well that they're about as useful as tits on a bull and there's no way they can compete with a genuinely not-for-profit entity.

5. I have medicare and am delighted with it. I don't have to
change my primary care physician every year like we did when we had a policy through the company Mr. Shraby worked for and also we don't have to worry whether the hospital that's a mile away is the one covered this year or if it's the one that's 6 miles away. We can use either one and still be covered.
I don't know what planet you're living on, but you are a tad off base with your post.

6. Politicians will undertake to make health care a government function to be re-elected
and the PO will work because private insurance sucks and deserves to be abandoned by all but the top 1%
