There is simply too much white noise in the healthcare debate
Or rather - there is too much white noise to know exactly which way Obama is leaning re: a Public Option.

Both sides are saying they've won - and they're going to stick their fingers in their ears and say "LALALALA" if presented with any indications otherwise.

Flip a coin - you have about the same chance of guessing where Obama now stands using that method as you would if you read the news.

1. I expect he prefers it that way.
It does tend to keep discussion on the issue and away from personalities...

3. I just want to know if I need to move to Canada or France
Or if I can stay here still...

In all seriousness - I really hope Gibbs is telling the truth

5. None - but I take what all press secretaries say with a grain of salt
Their job is to lie sometimes - and its not a bad thing. Sometimes a good press secretary has to lie for the greater good.

6. Given the monolithic nature of corporate rule in the US, we're expecting the inevitable
Edited on Tue Aug-18-09 11:56 AM by Echo In Light
I suspect much of it boils down to one's perceptions: if you honestly believe we the people have enough say-so in influencing and determining policy, or if you realize that we do not, and that corporate America never would have offered an "electable" candidate who posed an actual threat to their profits over people aims.

7. The public option is white noise itself.
Public distraction
