If not now when is the time for health care reform?
If not now when will be the time for real health care reform? We have 60 senators, a huge lead in the House, a democratic President, 70% + of the American people want
reform w/ a public option, and real change in the system has been blocked from November 1945 (Freaking Harry S Truman) ....... or are we going to let the insurance
industries, big pharma, and the screamers and those who manipulate them for money win?

1. During the Truman Administration, so we would not be dealing with it now.

2. I think 2011 will be a much better climate.
I do not fear a repeat of 1994 if we fail to pass "insurance reform" now. This is a very different political climate. The Republicans are insane, reflecting their base, and I think the Democratic Party will pick up 3 seats in the Senate and between 3 and 6 seats in the House SO LONG AS we do not pass a disastrous "health insurance" reform bill.

I say fight for single payer. If we can't get it, drop the issue until 2011. Things are only going to get worse, and the people will demand reform soon enough. We can blame our failure to pass reform on Republicans and Blue Dogs.

3. There is going to be a significant reform package, the ? is will it have a public option
I hope it does. But whatever package is passed there will be other important reforms which hardly anybody talks about like cracking down on insurance companies on pre-existing conditions, I believe almost everybody believes something like that will be included. And there will be others.

4. When they've accumulated enough dry powder to fight for it...some day...maybe.
