Someone like Armey. She will remain polite and restrained while Armey will Bully her into submission. He will talk over her and yell so she can't be heard. He is the opposite of Civil while she is the very definition of it. It makes no difference if she knows the facts if she is not allowed to present them. Gregory is a complete asshole for allowing Armey his bullying ways on the show.

1. I have watched those shows and wonder why a 'moderator' even gets paid to show up?
might as well be a death cage match since the 'moderator' does nothing to moderate. What a waste of skin, Gregory is!

5. Chuck Todd is a swarmy sack of shit
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 09:16 AM by ThomWV
Like that word "swarmy"? Its probably not even a word, but it sure conveys how I feel about Chuck Todd.

On Edit: Now that I think about it a bit more I guess he would be better than Gregory though.

so uncomfortable he refused to even have eye contact with her. It was easy to tell that he DOES NOT like being talked down to by a woman. I loved every minute of it.

6. Don't have tv, but in general - Rachel is perfect in the long run. Someone
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 09:32 AM by peacetalksforall
is either going to make a documentary or prepar statistics or something that will show that Demeocrats are more rational, logical, fact loving, with values that relate to the knowledge of and analysis of history. They are more practical, less fanatic, less hysterical.

The Democrats have shown and tried to show legal activism and have been given horrible names by the Malkins and Coulters. From civil rights to Kent State to the RNC in St. Paul, MN 2008 - they have tried to demonstrate and many were jailed and many died.

Campaigns against evil Democrats lose in the long run because of a preponderance of civility.

Survival is dependent on civility in the war of words.

Republicans have built a legacy since the end of WW2 that they will never recover from. We think thise is the frosting on the cake of structuring the country the way they want it - one frosting can hold another and they are digging their way to extinction.

Hooray for civility. Hooray for Maddow.

Just picture Coulter being civil. She can't turn back now.

Exposing themselves might make them see themselves some day.

I call it un-American.

His teabagger party in Atlanta was a flop, and Rachel's reporting forced him to drop one of his lobby-type jobs.

And she had to speak so quickly and breathlessly.... and he still said the impatient "right" in the middle of her speaking. No follow-up, straight to another dude.

25. Not to worry. Rachel will come back on her show and kick his snear right off
Edited on Sun Aug-16-09 10:03 AM by lunatica
And she'll do it with panache and facts and professionalism and enjoy every minute of it and keep it up for days. I watch Rachel's show every evening and I see how well her show is evolving. She takes on deadly serious issues which are incredibly complex (like the connection of dots with Dick Armey and vested corporate interests behind the guise of 'grassroots angry activists' who are using Sarah Palin's base for these town hall disruptions) and she lays it all out night after night but because she breaks her show up and infuses it with lighthearted and funny topics she can hold an audience.

She's a person who is classy but people like Dick Armey with their knee jerk turpitude think that because she's polite she's weak. Republicans have a very hard time understanding that anyone can be hard as nails and kick ass and able to do it with good manners. I guess that's the way Rachel should be described. An above average person with keen and incisive intelligence who has good manners. It used to be that good manners were the norm at one time. Boy has that changed since Bill Clinton took office! And when Sarah Palin was shoved down our throat that opened the last little box in Pandora's box unleashing the very ill winds of America's lowest common denominator class. We really are in a world of extremes right now.

26. While Rachel is a complete delight
her one big problem in being effective in a "debate" w/the likes of Armey is she wants/needs to be liked by everyone. Same problem Prez. Clinton had.

Julie--who is glad she doesn't have that problem :-)

Have you seen her skewer the Republican guests she has on? She's just as polite and nice then yet she demolishes them. Good manners isn't weakness, although in today's civility void climate it seems so. She's hard as nails and doesn't back down from bullies.
