Shorter Rahm: If This All Goes South, Baucus Owns It : FDL

(snip)

And what should our takeaway be from all of this?

1. When the Justice Department starts looking into pay-for-play ($150 million for $220 billion is a damn good deal) because the reckless Billy Tauzin just can't help himself, Baucus will be cannon fodder.
2. If there's blowback onto the White House, it's all Messina's fault.
3. Rahm is working through the Blue Dogs to get the House bill to conform to the Senate Finance bill.
4. Anyone who thinks the White House is going to bring all these people to the table and cut all these deals, just to fuck everybody over in conference needs to be in rehab.

1. Anyone else notice this story is designed to make the fact that
the WH was making back room deals with the insurers sound like its just business as usual?

If you want to reform Wall Street do you bring in the biggest crooks to the WH to make a deal?

Okay, bad analogy.

Okay I've got one.....if you want to reform the banks that caused the credit crisis do you bring them in and.....oh, wait.

Uh, never mind.

8. Please explain, how it is our failure?
Do we control the media?

Do we have vast resources and endless buckets of money to form a "grassroot" movement?

Are we sitting at the table with the lobbyists and insurance companies as they are hammering out a deal?

Something that is painfully obvious here, we DO NOT HAVE A VOICE.

The majority of Americans want Health Care reform, with 72% wanting a public option. If our government was listening to "we the people", there wouldn't be this big of a fight and this much misdirection and hyperbole from the right.

7. No I didn't read all the hyperlinks. They are there in case there is something
you don't know. Much of it I already do so I didn't need to read the hyperlinks. However, to answer your question because I know it's futile to continue this, the fact that the industry lobbyists seem to be having unfettered access to the White House and the people who really could reform health care are not, is why I said what I said.
