Something I've noticed about Secretary Clinton
When she went to Congo she overruled "the security fears of her aides" and traveled to "where hundreds of thousands of women have been raped over the past decade."

I read in one of her books about a trip she took to Mongolia as First Lady and she tried fermented yak's milk, a local specialty, to the horror of her physician, who immediately flipped out and started prescribing a bucketload of antibiotics for her.

I know she took flak for overselling how dangerous her trip to Yugoslavia was in the 90s, but it seems like she has a real appetite for jumping into the middle of dicey situations and disregarding her personal safety in order to find out what things are like first hand. The woman will not be managed and she will not be protectively bubbled.

I suspect she sees herself as some sort of roving badass for world peace. I can't say she'd be wrong to make this assertion.

1. I hadn't previously seen it from this perspective
but you have a point.

She's certainly no coward.

2. She should get over this immature need to look like a "badass."
It leads to things like sniper stories and pretending you're in danger when surrounded by dozens of armed guards.

4. It's not a two dimensional thing.
But on balance, I think it's better to have high government officials who feel some sort of compulsion to gather facts first hand themselves. There'd be about 4000 fewer dead Americans and hundreds of thousands of fewer dead Iraqis if we'd had more officials in 2003 who insisted on looking into matters for themselves before making factual determinations.

3. fermented yak's milk isn't exactly a sniper's bullet. Can't we just respect her intellect and work
ethic and leave it at that.

She isn't a roving bad ass for world peace. She is an intelligent woman with an important job to do.

Trying to present her as something she isn't is harmful, not helpful. That was the lesson of Snipergate
