"Leaded Tea Baggers" Getting Into Trouble in My Area

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Code officers ordered a gun range to be shut down, but members of the "Leaded Tea Party" said it is business as usual, and they will fire their guns on Labor Day Weekend.

Officials at MDI Holdings in Nocatee have set up barricades and are banning all government agents from the property after St. Johns County code enforcement took issue with the company's gun range.

"I was a prisoner of war briefly, Vietnam," said Richard Willich, whose company owns the property the gun range is on. "I kind of felt like that again. Their attitude towards me was that aggressive, that arrogant, controlling. I felt like a POW. And so I got very irritated. I threw them out. I told my security people to ban all federal, state and local officials from this property, and that's where we're at."

****************

This property is located in the Nocatee development off of SR 210 in Saint Johns county, FL. There are new neighborhoods everywhere (and more on the way) as well as schools, a sports park, bike trails, etc. The owner is loose cannon and I hope our county officials cut him off at the knees, at the very least put him on a watch list. People like this are what pushed me to become a gun owner again.

3. I'd gladly give him a ride there.
The comments are being deleted like crazy, but you can get a gist for how people are around here--we cannot wait to move away from these idiots.

4. Bad reporting - the journalist should have made the code violation the lede
Which is that the area never was zoned for a shooting range.

Sure, you have the right to shoot your gun. But when it infringes on the homes around it (and face it, guns are LOUD) not even to mention the safety issue of homes near a gun range.

5. When I complained about gun noise in my rural neighborhood...
...I was told to move...by other posters on DU.

It doesn't matter that I lived here years before the offensive neighbor moved in. He gets to fire off his weapons and I have to put up with it. There is an outdoor gun range less than 15 minutes from my house.

I guess rights are only for some.

6. Lobby the city council to change the zoning laws
AFAIK an area has to be zoned for it to be a gun range
