Officials insist Tamiflu is safe as reports of side effects continue to rise

-snip-

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said yesterday that between 1 April and 6 August there had been 418 reports of adverse side effects to Tamiflu and a further 686 suspected cases of adverse reactions. Last week alone there were 125 reports of adverse side effects in people taking Tamiflu, although not all of them may be due to the drug, the MHRA said.

1. The unfortunate truth is this. EVERY drug has "side effects"
The dilemma is always this:

Is the drug effective? (cannot know until you take it)
Is the drug safe for ME? (cannot know until you take it)
Are the side effects worse than the illness/ailment?
(cannot know until you take it)
Is the disease/ailment deadly, or can I/will I get better without medication? (cannot know until you get it, and don't take meds)

2. So true. Thanks for pointing that out. People seem to assume that drugs that
are "approved" will always be safe and effective for everyone. Hardly.

4. Wasn't tamiflu origionally for the bird flu pandemic that didn't happen?
And now it's going to be the cure-all for swine flu too?

5. Awfully convenient for the manufacturer
that this version of the flu is being promoted by the media as a major threat, when the facts show it is a rather mild seasonal flu and nothing at all out of the ordinary.

I would bet that when all is said and done, more will be permanently harmed by the vaccine than by the flu itself.
