Why do you suppose Obama didn't make Howard Dean part of his team?
I've been SO impressed with what he's been saying about healthcare and just stuff in general lately. I'd love to see him in the mix.

1. I've heard it's because Rahm doesn't like him - and takes credit for our wins...
Edited on Fri Aug-14-09 07:48 PM by polichick
...instead of giving Dean credit for his 50-state strategy.

2. That doesn't surprise me --
That's too bad -- I think Dean could be helpful in so many ways.

I've never been thrilled with Rahm, not that it matters. :7

Thanks! :hi:

I'm with you. Love Dean and not crazy about Rahm...
Hopefully, Obama knows what he's doing with Rahm ~ it's hard for me to see.

3. I was thinking of the exact same thing this morning
Dean has done so much for our victory. When he speaks, he is forceful and makes a lot of sense. Rahm needs to check his ego at the door and allow those who will help the cause work closely with the President.

4. I was thinking, the SECOND time I heard him today, where would we be today
if he'd become Prez? Sigh.

I just don't get a good FEELING from Rahm.

When they ask for my opinion, I'll be sure to direct them to you, too. :)

12. Nailed It!
No one from the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party was given a "position" in the Obama White House.

DLC Rules.

9. Dean can push this reform bill better if he is not part of the official team ...
now people have to decide if this is a good bill for the people, or for the companies.

13. Dean does not take money from lobbyists, he's not running for office, and he knows
that insurance is the problem..not the solution.
Team-Obama has to get back on the money-train at least one more time, and they want the money to be available to them in '12..

Dean's truly independent these days, and can freely speak his mind.....and that makes him "dangerous" .

32. I think Obama could very well have decided
that Dean was more useful outside the cabinet than in. If he were a spokesman for the Obama camp, he would have to tone it down. Obama is smart, and I think he is calculating the best way to advance this thing. Also, he is not opposed to single payer- he says, and it's sad but true, that such a leap would not happen in the US all at once. He's not that powerful- and neither is any other president.

In the UK, if you recall in the movie Sicko, there was a consensus formed after the war to make healthcare a priority in the rebuilding of the country. The Shock Doctrine at work, for the good of the people. We are not in a "sudden crisis moment" ...not to say we don't have a serious crisis on our hands. Here, we're dealing with ignorance and fraidy cats and corporatists, so moving this big load of crap is no small feat.

Go Dean Go.
