Senate passes stem cell research bill...BUT!
http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/11/senate-passes-stem-cell-research-bill/

Senate passes stem cell research bill.

“For the second time in nine months, the Senate today passed a bill that would loosen President Bush’s restrictions on human embryonic stem cell research, but once again falling short of the 67 votes needed to override a promised veto.” Sen. John Sununu (R-NH), the critical swing vote, sided with President Bush and voted against stem cell research.
Now why is the magic number 67 on this vote? And I hope Sununu loses his seat over this.

2. What's worse is the bill that passed veto-proof. S30 (passed 70-30)
places MORE restictions on SCR than are in place now. I posted below:

4. Two Thirds
Two Thirds is actually 66 2/3, which translates to 67 with rounding.

67 to Override the veto.

6. Sununu is going to loose his seat anyway.
The only reason he skimmed thru was because they fixed the votes remember. They had that phone jamming thing going on so the dems couldn't get votes.
