Millionaire Who Funded Prop 8 to protect traditional marriage dumps wife.
http://www.sdcitybeat.com/cms/story/detail/ironic_divorce/8366/

In July 2008, hotelier and developer Doug Manchester donated $125,000 to help gather signatures for a proposition that would ban same-sex marriage in California. The early money was crucial to getting the initiative—which ultimately passed—on the ballot. At the time, he told The New York Times that he made the donation because of “my Catholic faith and longtime affiliation with the Catholic Church,” which preferred that marriage remain between a man and a woman. Indeed, the Catholic Church has vehemently opposed gay marriage. Then again, it’s also not too keen on divorce.

1. lol this exposes the lies quite clearly
Anti-gay marriage, is primarily just gay bashing - it has nothing to do with marriage. Never did.

46. BOTH hypocrisy and lies.
They just hate gay people, and they are both LYING on it being a protection of marriage, and its HYPOCRISY when they demand marriage be protected when they dump the person they said "till death do us part" with.

2. When will you people learn?
Marriage is between a man and as many women as he sees fit. It says so clear as day in the bible, it's God's Way.

48. Ah, the conundrum of Lilith, Adam's 1st wife and queen of the feminists.
She should get far more exposure than she does. Heck'uva role model for girls and young women - for those of us who love the women in our lives (without being afraid of them). She's the epitome of why fundies (of every religion) are terrified of empowered women.

Suck it Rush, you fat bag of pus.

And I'd imagine there's very few good songs to be made about wives submitting to their husbands.

51. There's little doubt any group terrified of women could ever develop rhythm...
let alone singing skills. They don't like dancing, either. Embrace "Teh Gay" you freaks.

Fundamentalists (all fundamentalists) are the wallflowers of humanity. Angry, woman hating wallflowers just waiting for an opportunity. We get to deal with the wackjobs here in the U.S. because we don't condone arranged/forced marriages and prohibit child brides - they'd be far less stressed if they had the opportunity to rape a child or "submissive wife" every night.

Guess we're just stepping all over their Constitutional rights on this one. :sarcasm:

47. It's obvious!
The brief time gay marriage was allowed in California obviously started his marriage down the track to divorce. Plus, with gay marriage being legal in Massachusetts, Connecticut & Iowa, his marriage in California was picking up big "gay vibrations" from those gay marriages, which led to the eventual death of his marriage.

8. My money's on pregnant mistress.
" But people who think there's nothing more to him than the stereotype don't know "Papa Doug."

That's the nickname he's called by employees, friends and business associates. Manchester insists on it. Unlike the firebrand developer he is thought to be, he speaks in quiet, deliberate tones, sprinkling his conversations with words such as "grace," "blessings" and "prayers." He admits to weeping openly and often.

Manchester's office on the 33rd floor of the Hyatt is crowded with framed pictures of his family – his wife of 40 years, Betsy, his five children and his "10 grandchildren under the age of 10" – a phrase he repeats often. He and his wife are among San Diego's most generous philanthropists, giving freely to San Diego State University, St. Vincent DePaul, the University of San Diego and a long list of other organizations. "

You don't just dump your wife of 40 years for irreconcilable differences.

yeah and so does Glen Beck. Yay.

...irreconcilable differences I guess would be... he wants to fuck every WOMAN that crosses his path and she doesn't want him to?

women are just life support systems for twat, the bible makes that pretty clear too. Have as many as ya want.

These include nearly $20,000 on clothing and jewelry, $7,000 in electric bills, $1,700 in groceries, $4,901 in household supplies, tuition at three private schools for some of the couple’s 10 grand children, $7,500 in salary for the full-time groundskeeper and housekeeper, $1,200 in membership dues for the La Jolla Country Club and money toward the hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel expenses the couple was accustomed to spending..."

39. I think it had more to do with taking away benefits
from people by using homosexuality as an excuse. The same people who propelled prop hate were the same people who campaigned vigorously against domestic partner benefits. Abolish gay marriage then they can argue that any couple that isn't man and woman shouldn't get those benefits for the same reason they shouldn't be married to begin with.

Then the reasoning would be that people who aren't married shouldn't get domestic partner benefits-just give it only to married couples composed of man and woman. Eliminate domestic partner benefits and save corporations billions. Just follow the money, folks.
