Pope says evolution can't be proven...
Yet more verbal diarrhea from Pope Palpatine XVI...

BERLIN - Benedict XVI, in his first extended reflections on evolution published as pope, says that Darwin's theory cannot be finally proven and that science has unnecessarily narrowed humanity's view of creation.

In a new book, "Creation and Evolution," published Wednesday in German, the pope praised progress gained by science, but cautioned that evolution raises philosophical questions science alone cannot answer.

"The question is not to either make a decision for a creationism that fundamentally excludes science, or for an evolutionary theory that covers over its own gaps and does not want to see the questions that reach beyond the methodological possibilities of natural science," the pope said.

He stopped short of endorsing intelligent design, but said scientific and philosophical reason must work together in a way that does not exclude faith.

1. Science doesn't prove it

Science's job is to disprove it, which is has not.

By the way Pope, PROVE creation.

4. Neither can creation!
"The pope's remarks were consistent with one of his most important themes, that faith and reason are interdependent."

Maybe the pope should look up the meaning of faith since at least one important meaning is belief independent of proof or evidence

7. and the stuff in the bible can - sorry but no
There is a lot more evidence of evolution than anything the pope backs.

I recently ran for school board and received a call before the election asking if I would be okay with someone teaching a two week course on fallacies about evolution - I said sure as long as it's factual and open to rebuttal. I think she thought she got the answer she was looking for but I don't agree.

People that want to teach the bible in school don't know what they are asking - what are they going to do when some kid points out it's no different than any other myth based culture?

11. What the hell does 'finally proven' mean?
Where in Darwin's theory does it state that it is scientific fact that God had no role in the origin of life? Sounds like a big fat straw man to me. He's declaring God's role in creation has not been scientifically disproven as if that was the idea and the point.

12. it's amazing to me how many soft-minded morans still give credence to the old fart...
and still buy into the same feeble fairy tales they've been shilling for almost 2000 years.

unless & until the religoids wake up and smell the coffee, mankind is doomed.

18. Well, I was worried about offending catholics.
But then I remembered there've been good catholics telling the Pope to fuck off for the last 1500 hundred years. So what the hell...

19. Well first he is conflating "Creation" with "Evolution"...setting up a strawman...
Evolutionary theory does not attempt to describe the creation of species, only how they evolve once created...

Evolution is as close to scientific fact as one can get...on a par with gravity...
