1. That's gotta contribute to global warming.
Wouldn't it have been cheaper to fly to a cold climate?

2. Biodiesel / Ethanol
we need to stop putting wealth into other nations. This is the ultimate cross isle issue. Put this money into the Midwest.

3. Instead of Wet'n Wild or Blizzard Beach they have Ski Dubai
 Do you think this came from the sale of the Dubai Ports contract which BushCo gave to them?

5. Though they are building a second one...
Dubai is smart, and will probably outlast the rest of the Middle East (assuming that some theocratic state doesn't plow over them for being "too tolerant"). They've ridden the oil wave, and now they are working on becoming a major tourism/banking/business hub.

7. I agree
Plus the majority of people who live in Dubai are not native residents.

I can see why they'd need a second one. WIth all the incoming residents b/c of the new islands they're building.

9. Small correction
Not instead of Wet n Wild or Blizzard Beach. At least as of a few years ago, they had a nifty water park complete with standing wave and uphill water coaster.

11. Okay, I should have said we have man-made attractions in Orlando
....that cost major dollars to build (not sure how much but certainly tens of millions of dollars) which are Wet'n Wild and Blizzard Beach for the only purpose of entertaining tourists, visitors and locals who can afford the $30-$40 daily pass.

Dubai is building/has built these ski facilities which appear very unique especially in the desert for the same reason. In fact there may be similar and even more extravagant attractions in Las Vegas Nevada all catering to the wants and needs of the upscale and the rich and famous or for that matter whoever can afford the price of admission. I'm not one of those people and I'm okay with that.

Perhaps someday, if I'm fortunate I may have the opportunity to visit Southwest Asia and if I do, I would certainly like to see the Ski-Dubya attraction. I just hope the neocons or terrorists and BushCo don't get there first because I'm sure it would be one of the main psychological targets.

By the way, gasoline prices have gone up again this week in Orlando. The Shell station I have bought my gas at for several years now, because it was always a few cents cheaper than most of the other stations around is now showing $2.889 per gallon for regular. I see the odd Citco station at $2.799. If I find one that is close to me, I'll switch, but I'm afraid it will only be temporary as gas I'm sure will hit $3.00 plus in the next few weeks at this rate. We, the have nots pay, the rich and the haves play!
