He's having his healthcare townhall at an North Carolina Central University. it's an Historically Black College here in Durham with a lot of great attributes.

I plan on going, but I'm thinking the teabaggers and birthers will stay true to form and stay away. These guys are Jesse Helms old voting bloc and they wouldn't be caught dead on campus.

Heh.

NCCU is a part of the UNC-system.

1. If you go, and if it's civilized
make sure your local TV station covers it. If they don't, write a LTTE explaining that there are perfectly respectable gatherings taking place and they need to make that part of their coverage.

3. I hope that you have
a solidly edifying and constructive time.

North Carolina has come a long way since Jesse Helms' thugs chased us through Durham's streets as we tried to bring voters back to polling places full of voting machines that had mysteriously "broken down" (I was working on Harvey Gantt's senate campaign in 1990). Kudos to you, Harvey, and all the other voices of reason in the Tarheel State!

5. Oh man, my hat's off to you
:applause:

I didn't move back to NC until 1992, and I worked on Dem Party campaigns down there. I got to meet Harvey a time or two while lived in Charlotte. He would have made a fantastic senator.

*sigh*
