Which is the proper way to describe their position on an issue:

"A" or "not A"?

If you said "A".... congrats for spreading a right-wing talking points and engaging in disingenuous arguing techniques.

(for those not paying attention... A = "for single-payer" and the person is Obama).

Because... based on THAT kind of thought process, each of these statements is 100% true:

- Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Phil Gramm, Zell Miller, and Ronald Reagan are/were Democrats
- Dennis Kucinich is pro-life
- Mitt Romney is pro-Universal Healthcare and pro-choice
- Robert Byrd is a white supremacist
- David Brock is a right-wing shock journalist

Stop spreading misinformation. Obama has not, during his entire time as a U.S. Senator or President, been in favor of single-payer. To say anything else is a lie.

1. Ahhh. but we never forgive, and we never forget.
There are those on this board who regularly excoriate Senator Byrd for his Klansman past (which he has vehemently repudiated), etc. etc...

We never accept that people can change, because that would mean we might have to bury the hatchet altogether, and not leave the handle where we might grab it and have it handy for future times when a public figure disagrees with us.

2. Obama is a flip flopper
He was for single payer before he was against single payer.

It doesn't serve his interest or the interest of the health care industry to support single payer. And the health care industry heavily funded his Presidential campaign:

Looks to me like he places his desire for position and the personal power and prosperity it brings above the needs and interests of the flesh and blood citizens who elected him.

The fact that he changed his position after first being elected to office is a pretty good indicator that he has been bought.

And that is evident on more issues than just health care reform.

3. Astonishing the covers they use, and think they can get away with, isn't it?

5. I guess no one can change their mind or beliefs. Ever. That's how children think.
"But you said we could....." even though the situation has changed.

7. Does it really matter?
I mean single payer is not the proposal. He has said over and over it would be too disruptive to 16% of our economy. He has said over and over that if he were starting from scratch, he would prefer single-payer, but he is not starting from scratch.
