And The Obama Assassination Rhetoric Turns Up A Notch: Teabagger Sign "Death To Obama"...
Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 03:28 PM by BlooInBloo
http://washingtonindependent.com/54885/death-to-obama-sign-pops-up-at-cardin-town-hall

"There have been some pretty nasty banners waved around by the town hall crowds protesting the Democrats’ health overhaul plans in recent days, but none reaches the level of that held up today in Hagerstown, Md., where Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) sought to sell the reform strategy for a second straight day. “Death to Obama,” one protester had written on “a small, handwritten cardboard sign,” according to The Hill.

On the plus side for the president, though, the sign didn’t indicate any opposition to the health care bill."

Bonus points for the dark humor at the end.

EDIT: Yes, I know this thread is worthless without pics.

EDITEDIT: Here's The Hill write-up referred to by Wa Ind:

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/sen.-cardin-hears-an-earful-on-healthcare-2009-08-12.html

"Signs weren’t allowed inside the theater, but dotted the landscape outside, as far as the exit into downtown Hagerstown from Interstate 40. Signs read “No Socialized Medicine,” “No To ObamaCare,” and “Don’t Take Away My Health Care.” At the entrance to the college, one man stood with a small, handwritten cardboard sign that read, “Death To Obama.”"

30. He is.
But, like the fool who shouts fire in a crowded theatre, he is using them poorly. There is no such thing as unlimited free speech, and the Secret Service should pay this person a very personal visit, making clear that he is being observed for having made threats tantamount to the endorsement of assassination.

4. Oh, good Lord
"“I give a lot of credit to Senator Cardin, I really, really do. He knew this would be a hostile group,” Maguire said. “I came a little unglued because I’m very passionate. But a lot of us conservatives are displaying justified anger because we feel our country is being taken in a wrong direction.”

To quote one badass senator, "Elections have consequences." :nopity:

And after the 62-post FB war I had yesterday about health care reform, I don't think I can take any more of these mouthbreathers.

37. Here's The Link Of The Complete Interview.......
http://www.casttv.com/video/2lbw4w1/chris-matthews-interviews-gun-carrying-american-from-obama-town-hall-video

around the 4:50 mark - Tweety says - "I'm with you" and in the last minute of the clip Tweety says something to the effect "you speak in a different way than most people". I think Tweety's intent of that statement was that this guy really wasn't advocating violence and in my mind - Tweety legitimized this guy and gun toting to presidential events in general.

I think the interview of this guy was a poor judgment call on Tweety's part. It certainly had shock value and was provocative - but - I don't think it had a place on TV. I think it will just bring out every wacko out there that loves their guns. Some that 'maybe speak in a different way than this guy' and do advocate violence.

I believe that legitimization of this guy - puts the President at risk and was really unnecessary.

Sure Tweety did try and intimidate this guy - but this guy was pretty well versed and was no dummy.

I think we are going to see more of William Kostric in the future. I'm sure he'll be popping up on all kinds of cable news shows - like Joe the Plumber. Now we have William the Gun Toter.

21. Let me get this straight:
Richard Humphreys of Oregon got 37 months in prison for telling this joke:

A Muslim, a Baptist, and a Catholic walk into a bar.

The Catholic says, "I heard President Bush is giving a speech here this week. I wonder if he'll be using an interpreter."

The Baptist says, "Yeah, to translate it into English."

They have a few more drinks and the Baptist says, "I wonder if they'll show it on a wide screen television. They call him the 'Big Picture President' you know."

The Catholic answers, "I doubt it. His 'big picture' could fit on the head of a pin."

After few more drinks, the Baptist comments, "Maybe someone should shove that pin up his ass."

The Catholic responds, "He'd squeal louder if they shoved a jalapeno pepper up his ass."

The Baptist says, "Yeah, a jalapeno. Talk about a Burning Bush!"

With that, an FBI agent arrests the Catholic and the Baptist for threatening bodily harm to the Sole Commander in Chief of the United States, and takes them both into custody.

The bartender looks at the Muslim and says, "Wow! Can you believe that?"

The Muslim replies, "That's nothing. John Poindexter was convicted of lying to Congress, obstruction of justice, and destroying Federal evidence about the criminal conspiracy to sell arms to Iran, and Bush just appointed him Director of the Pentagon's Total Information Awareness Office."

A teabagger holds up a sign advocating murdering the president of the United States, and he's NOT in prison right now? Where's the disconnect?

27. You _know_ a "Death to Bush" sign would've been removed.
...At the very least. I think there would have been an arrest involved.

Bush, of course, was a white guy.

38. You don't "think" there would have been an arrest, you know there would have been one
The point I was making is, someone told a joke about shoving a jalapeno up Bush's ass and went to prison for three years, but someone advocating killing the current president isn't there yet. I think someone holding up a Death to Bush sign would have been given a life sentence, or (knowing Shrub) a death sentence. Yeah, I think Bush would have tried it--he'd have had the sign declared a terrorist act and invoked the unPATRIOTic Act.
