Pelosi and Reid need to be Removed from their Leadership Positions
They are two very incompetent people who don't seem to know what they're doing, and they don't have the balls to push their agenda through. I suggest replacing Reid with Barbara Boxer, and Pelosi with Dennis Kucinich. Two progressives that can get the job done.

Who do you think should replace Reid and Pelosi?

1. Reid yes, Pelosi no. She's doing about as well as could be expected on health care.

2. Agreed there. Pelosi's actually doing halfway decently. Reid needs to go.
And I'm hearing more rumors about Schumer wanting Reid's job... Maybe we'll be in luck.

5. Reid seems very wishy washy ... like a Repuke almost
Edited on Mon Aug-10-09 10:55 PM by sjdnb
Pelosi seems to be struggling to try to keep it all together.

Someone needs to have the nads to just say NO to all the BS.

When will the Dems actually realize the American people handed them a mandate to make life better for them ... not the Defense Contractors, Corrupt Businesses/Executives, Corporate Welfare Recipients, or any Lackeys they donated to/helped elect.

3. Let's have all the members of the caucus vote, say at the beginning of the Congressional session
for the members they wish to represent them in Leadership.

Now that would be something!

You think Dennis Kucinich would win such a vote? lol

Why didn't someone in the House or Senate think of that!

20. Why is the choice always Kucinich?
I love it how the cheerleaders around here always insist that everyone they disagree with worships Kucinich. It seems the DLC memes are strong on the DU these days.

25. No one puts a gun to their head.
They may value the safety and comfort of their positions more than they do their principles, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be done.

Members revolting against Leadership isn't exactly an unheard of occurance.

26. The gun is in the form of funding and support from the
Democratic Party. Yes, it could be done, but you have to remove the major political parties from the equation and they're too tightly entrenched thanks to the predator class and not-too-bright people believing that there is actually a difference between Democrat and Republican. News flash: They're ALL sucking off the same corporate teet. Now, if THE PEOPLE would bypass D and R and elect people not beholden to anyone but his/her constituents and IF we could populate Congress with those individuals, THEN we would have our revolt.

27. so you are saying that if a majority of the Democratic Caucus decided they wanted to change leaders
the Democratic Party would refuse to support a majority of its elected officials?

Ho-kay....

30. No, I'm saying
the Democratic Caucus will not make the decision to change the leadership because they are all there due to the support and funding of the Democratic Party which represents the predator class every bit as much as the Republican Party represents them. You think the Democratic Members of Congress control the Democratic Party when it's clearly the other way around. And who controls the Democratic Party? Not us.

down to defeat if they voted for someone other than Pelosi or Reid?

6. Nobody is stopping either one of them
They're perfectly capable of talking to the members of the Senate and House and creating majority support for whatever it is they want to pass. They're also perfectly capable of conducting a leadership position, if they can get the votes. Oh yeah, they can't even get the votes for that much, let alone pass any legislation.

8. in what universe do you think DK would make a good leader?
He has never served in a leadership position. He hasn't campaigned for or raised money for other members to the best of my knowledge. In other words, he has done nothing to build the sort of relationships that you need to develop to achieve a leadership role.

...no longer can command a majority in their caucuses, or Kucinich and Feingold can produce one, they'll be gone.

But not before -- and certainly not because of anyone uttering ukases here.

16. The two chambers elect their own.
I think Pelosi has earned the votes of her colleagues and that they see no benefit in removing her as Speaker.

The Senate is another landscape. Reid faces a possibly difficult re-election next round. We'll see how things go after that.

23. Pelosi and Reid were placed in their positions
(yes, I said placed) precisely because they are obedient sycophants to the corporate-sponsored DLC. The Democratic Party (now synonymous with the DLC) isn't going to let anyone who is not a, shall we say, "team player" to hold any position of power. They must have COMPLIANT pod persons and they have the perfect stooges in Reid and Pelosi.
