Multiple Insurgencies in Iraq with video, by Larry Johnson
Edited on Wed Apr-11-07 12:32 PM by Annces
We are facing multiple insurgencies as well as a broad base sectarian civil war in Iraq. It is not fighting an enemy. We are fighting multiple enemies with no clear strategy and inadequate intelligence. The challenge confronting our soldiers is formidible. The following video provides a firsthand view of some of these challenges and shows us that at least one group of the enemies we are fighting are clever, devious bastarads.

1. No one has ever categorized this "insurgency" properly.
Intial DoD estimates always want to force an enemy into standard line and block charts. Zarqawi is the head of an organziation, he has 7 lieutenants, they have 1000 forces under them.

Blah blah blah.

This insurgency is better envisioned as a Cube. Inside the Cube are "a thousand points of light". Each point of light indicates an "enemy combatant". The higher in the cube the more influence the "insurgent" has. Each point can have one or more strands radiating from him to other points of light. These are the connections. They are not based on a military rank structure.

An insurgent may know a former Iraqi mortar man, or an influential cleric, a sniper, or a smuggler or some poor farmer who's family was killed by a stray 155mm arty shell.

Fuck, we've really let ourselves be sucked into a terrible morass of death and slaughter.

2. Yep
There is no one to ally ourselves with there. And did you see how those civilians had to back up through the line of fire. People are so exposed there.
