Sanity Makes A Showing in Northern Florida......
Fla. city blocks 'In God We Trust' logo campaign

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Kissimmee officials have blocked an effort to add "In God We Trust" to the city logo, saying the campaign brought too much negative attention.

Commissioner Art Otero proposed the idea because he feels the country is becoming too liberal on things like homosexuality, abortion and marijuana.

The City Commission withdrew the possible change last week. Mayor Jim Swan said Otero's campaign brought "ridicule" on Kissimmee, and officials has received threats of boycotting local businesses and "future businesses looking elsewhere." Swan also said public employees have been deluged with distracting calls and comment on the issue.

Otero says he has plenty of support, and some residents may start a petition for a voter referendum.

4. "Otero says he has plenty of support
and some residents may start a petition for a voter referendum." I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they did and it passed. I bet that mayor's gone next election, too.
