I was wondering why Sarah came out with this piece of idiocy on her blog...
"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."
And then on Rachael Maddow, an astroturf "Patients First" bus tour speaker says the following...
"If this new Obamacare program comes to fruition, when you reach 65 and every 5 years thereafter, your going to half to have a counseling session with someone, uh, some federal airhead, part of this process is called end of life counseling and part of end of life counseling can be an end of life order. Adolf Hitler issued 6 million end of life orders, he called his program The Final Solution. I kinda wonder what we are going to call ours"
This is the abortion / right to life issue applied to health care. They (Palin and the astroturfers) are making a moral equivalence argument about Obama Health Care Reform and Abortion. Even more so than "choice" for abortion, they are claiming that Obama means to KILL people (either because they are too old or because they are not "productive citizens").
THIS IS THE DOG WHISTLE FOR THE KILLERS IN THE ANTI-ABORTION FRINGE GROUPS. THEY ARE CALLING ON THESE PEOPLE, LIKE THE MURDERER OF DR. TILLER, TO KILL ... PRESIDENT OBAMA.
It's the same (or more so) as when O'reily called Dr. Tiller "Tiller the baby killer".
That's why, when I went to my town hall with my Democratic member of congress, ALMOST ALL the signs were about Obama, not about health care reform or the congress person. I saw a few with the Obama/Nazi signs, quite a number with the Joker/Obama signs, and a number of Obama / birther signs (he is an illegal alien and not my Commander-in-Chief).
No, we don't have to worry about the past middle aged angry white folks at these town hall meetings, no matter how much they yell and scream. The people we need to worry about are the disaffected, unemployed Timothy McVeigh types, late 20's to 30s and even 40s, white, male, usually unmarried, loners. These are the ones that are hearing this crap on their TeeVee and deciding that they need to "do something about it". That they will be "heroes" for saving the country from the horrors of the Federal Death Panel that the illegal President and the "liburls in congress" were going to inflict on the helpless and the elderly in their country. They will convince themselves that they have a "legal right" to defend the nation from such godless commies/socialists/nazis (pick one or more).
And the republican pieces of chickenshit KNOW that not only is this possible, but it's likely. That's why the lies are SO distorted, and distorted in a specific way. They want someone to make the attempt. I'm convinced of it.
Crap. I wish I was wrong on this. But I'm not. It's real and it's intentional.
Tell me I'm wrong. Convince me that this is all "politics" and the only thing they want stopped is Health Care Reform.
