"I want my America back!!" - What exactly does she mean?
The video Olbermann played of the woman coming unglued at a town hall.

I'm guessing she's a hysterical moronic racist ass bitch who could use an intervention for her hate radio addiction. Even so, I wish Rachel would have her on and simply ask, what exactly do you want back, and who do you think took it? And then just listen.

I'm sorry but we can't really just flush 25% of our populace simply because they suffer from "teh stooopid". At some point we are going to have try and figure out how to "handle" them.

3. I could easily give her back her America
but it would entail some changes that might upset her demonic voices (Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, etc.).

We could definitely get back to an America of the 50s, without all the alcohol and downers that were keeping everything together. It would entail a little redistributing of wealth, like occurred in the 30s, but we could get there.

7. And very powerful labor unions too
Conservatives who dream about the 1950's conveniently tend to forget about that part.

They think unions are too powerful now? Hah! In the 1950's the union's ran the show in this country.

10. I grew up in the home of the President of
one of the locals of one of those unions. Although he was President of his local, he always worked his job in the Long Lines division of AT&T (this is back in the days before satellites, and nationwide TV was broadcast over lines).

I pretty much owe everything to the CWA.

and it's nothing but shorthand for "I'm a racist and I'm having one FUCK of a time dealing with a black family living in MY WHITE HOUSE!"

5. Free speech zones
Let them spew their nonsense 2 miles away from the main event, in a protected cage, surrounded by police who can keep an eye on them.

Their president invented the idea, so they should be fine with it.

13. I suspect she's viewed as hero in her circle.
I have the misfortune of being raised in that world. This is the same bunch that genuinely believe the holy ghost makes them fall over and flap around in the aisles at church. I'd bet my last bit of milk and bread money she will be the hero of the year come Sunday.

8. I don't think she knows what she means
and I'm reasonably certain she can't articulate it if she does.

That's the problem with these people, they're sold a lot of victimhood and given sound bites and they really haven't a clue what they're talking about.

Asking her what's missing might get her to stop and try to puzzle it out, but it'll just make her madder.

While we continue to pretend inciting riot is protected by the first amendment, we'll continue to get these people, mad as hell but too fucking stupid to know what they're mad about.

17. Warpy
why is your post always the wisest one in the thread. Yours is a very good point I had not thought of.

Back in June an elderly inlaw started up with "birth certificate" and I could not stop my eyes from rolling fast enough to be able to just sit quietly and be polite. So a conversation ensued and got heated rather quickly when I asked what is the criteria for being born an American. The truth is she had no idea. But since her local hate radio told her Obama is dangerous and illegal then she believes it. Why would they put that on the radio if it was not true? Logic and fact have no place in that mind.

I forget sometimes and appreciate the reminder. But I still think at some point we will have to figure out how to get this bunch of Americans on board.

9. "I want my country back" is something I used to say when Bushie was in office.
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 12:49 AM by PassingFair
So I understand how she feels.

She REALLY wants a different life than
I do.

She wants people SHE deems bad to
suffer. That includes gays, arabs, hippies,
abortion-lovers, fornicators, public school
"tolerance" lovers...etc.

THAT'S what she wants. And if she or
HERS "do bad", well, there are always
mitigating circumstances to blame.

They truly are the "other side".

20. That's fascist talk.
Go by the academic definition of fascism, which is summed up in three words: Palingenetic, ultranationalist populism.

"I want my America back!" is classic palingenetic talk, or talk of national rebirth, that stirs up this phoenix-reborn-from-the-ashes narrative, about returning the country to a previous age of glory.

This teabagging movement has the potential to be very dangerous.

25. I guess she means where a Dr. in Congress is worth 100 million
With that much money to be made on sick people why would you think they would not fight to keep the same system? Is the actions not the same type as when the unions started to fight big business? Any one in their right mind knew all this was coming. Making money has a lot of power and is not going to give up the deal easy.

If you get to the root of all this BS it's racism that fuels these people. It scares them to see a black man in charge and they don't want him to succeed at anything.
