A 2,010-Calorie Shake?!?! (and Other Shocking Drinks to Avoid)
Americans have a drinking problem—we simply consume too much nutrient-empty, calorie-full liquids. Blame food marketers for the ever-expanding serving vessels, chock-full of cheap sugar substitutes, a variety of hard-to-pronounce chemicals, and tons of fats. But it’s not all doom and gloom—it turns out, those liquid calories are the easiest kind to cut. And a recent study from Johns Hopkins University found that people who cut liquid calories from their diets lose more weight—and keep it off longer—than people who cut food calories. In fact, cutting those calories in half could mean you could drop around 23 pounds in one year

8. I burn that in a day or so bicycle touring.
More like half again that. 130lb bike X 80 plus miles of road that can climb 3500 feet and back down a couple times == all the food you can stick in your face.

I lost 15 lbs riding cross country a couple years ago stuffing myself with everything I could get my hands on.

Hash browns and 4 eggs and a quart of milk for brekky is a really good idea.

I'm getting ready for another tour in a couple of weeks, and am packing on some weight - candy, ice cream, protein smoothies......

Fuck me I LOVE that work.

9. Most of those things look completely revolting!
But it did get me to go look up what my major liquid sin has for nutritional value - Steak & Shake chocolate shake:
Calories 608 Calories from Fat 342
% Daily Value *
Total Fat 38g 58%
Saturated Fat 0g 0%
Sodium 178mg 7%
Total Carbohydrate 57g 19%
Dietary Fiber 0g 0%
Protein 13g 26%
Est. Percent of Calories from:
Fat 56.2% Carbs 37.5%
Protein 8.6%

Good thing I only buy one about three times a year any more and when I do, it counts as a meal. I may have to learn to like yogurt shakes.
