Bush seeks WAR CZAR for Iraq, Afghanistan wars
The White House wants to appoint a high-powered czar to oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with authority to issue directions to the Pentagon, the State Department and other agencies, but it has had trouble finding anyone able and willing to take the job, according to people close to the situation.

"The very fundamental issue is, they don't know where the hell they're going," said retired Marine Gen. John J. "Jack" Sheehan, a former top NATO commander who was among those rejecting the job.

1. It's actually an accepted form of Washington Lingo
The Drug Czar is the one I've heard most, but I seem to recall there being others.

That said, this term might send the wrong message to America at this time.

2. When I first read the subject I thought it was going to be an Onion article.
This is just to much. Basically they are trying to get somebody to step in front of Bush to take blame for future failure.

4. Another layer of bureacracy from the party of small government
bush doesn't know when to stop so he keeps on fucking up or he needs someone else to blame - you pick.

And General Sheehan is way too kind. He's using that polite officer language.

5. Just one more level of mis-management
and someone to whom BushCo can point the blaming finger. He is trying to put space between himself and the two currant occupations. Bush and Cheney are jonesing to get on with the invasion of Iran.

14. Interesting that Sheeney specifically mentioned Cheney...
that he still had too much control over the failed Pentagon policy, and it was a futile job for that reason.

27. I thought HE was "the overseer"?
I thought HE was "the decider" or "War Czar", as well as the unquestionable lord and master of the universe (or at least of the world's lone remaining hyper-power)? WTF does he need ANOTHER person to help "oversee" HIS wars (failures)? Not only are these wars HIS mess (responsibility) but he has so forcefully rejected any advice or counsel about how to fix them (or at least extricate us from them in a sane manner) that he only has himself to blame for what will happen in the future in regards to Afghanistan and Iraq. Of course, if he doesn't feel that he is capable of overseeing these wars himself and doesn't have anybody else in his (mis-)administration to help him do it, maybe now is a good time for him, Cheney, and the rest of his (mis-)administration to resign and turn things over to people who can. I wouldn't have any problems with that!
