There was a host named Bob McKalistar and I'm trying to remember what the theme song or the song was that he ended the show with? Thanks!

1. I remember it in the 60s
The host was someone named Sonny something. I have no recollection of any song.

4. apparently it was regional.. host's name was Bob McAllister
I found a TV nostalgia page on it.. including a long post by one of Bob's assistants; you might enjoy reading it.

9. Can you whistle with Saltine crackers in your mouth?
My brother was on the show once. He brought home the bunny ears he had to wear as he hopped up and down.

6. i'm a fan from the 60s and the Sonny Fox era
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Fox

and before Sonny it was hosted by Sandy Becker, who had his own show later on which i watched every day:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Becker

loved Norton Nork and the Hambone song.

i was too big a kid by the Bob McAllister days to care anymore about Wonderama. but with McAllister it went into national syndication, so it seems that most people remember him on Wonderama.

20.  Sandy Becker then had his own show for years. He was on Saturday AM and Wonderama

on Sunday AM.

I adored Sandy. One of my neighbors was a cameraman on Sandy's show and I was a bit envious of his kids because they had gone with their Dad to the studio.

28. I loved it too! Youtube has amazing gems on it. They talk about kids
and tv now. I was a tv junkie as a kid, especially for the Saturday AM line-up. Sandy Becker, Roy Rogers, Howdie Doody, Sky King, Fury, Rin Tin Tin, Lassie. I don't recall if Shari Lewis was on Saturdays, but I loved her too. :)
In the afternoons I went out and played. :)

29. did you remember Rex Trailor?
Edited on Sat Aug-08-09 02:25 PM by G_j
(a cowboy personality) I think the kid's show was called Boomtown. It may have only aired in Boston.
When I was wee kid he shot balloons off my head at a shopping center, and gave me a two gun holster, autographed!
I was trilled, one of my earlier memories.
Later we moved to LI, where I became a Sandy Becker fan..

32. No, I don't remember Rex Trailor. Sounds like a great memory. Long Island?
I lived between the ages of 5 and 10 in Seaford. Then we moved back to Queens in 1961.

And yes, we're probably around the same age :)

Have a great night! :hi:

33. Yes, it certainly was! I wasn't a Yankee fan back then but a Dodger fan,
and in fact "hated" the Yankees for 2 reasons...a cousin that I was close to/had almost a sibling rivalry with, Loved the Yankees, and we (my immediate family) were Dodger fans. I stayed true to the Dodgers for many years after they left Brooklyn. My parents became avid Mets fans.

I came to my senses and am now a huge Yankee fan. :)

It amazes me that there were so few channels but seemed to have such better choices in tv than we do now with 100+ stations. :)
