On C-SPAN 2 now.

12. I'll admit. When he's self-deprecating, it's charming.
But when he tells jokes about others, you realize why his nickname was McNasty.

5. So write the bill, Sen. John Sidney McCain III
If it's a worthwhile idea, I'm sure it will get the backing of both houses of Congress and merit a presidential signature. If, on the other hand, this is just more ranting from the loser of the 2008 election, the only proper response is to fall on the floor laughing at you.

:rofl:

9. He was three from the bottom, IIRC.
To his credit, none of those three ran for President.

10. He was a "legacy" student...
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 03:13 PM by BlueIdaho
His father and grandfather were both four star Admirals. Johnny's naval career was a colossal embarrassment to his father.

As a fighter pilot he managed to crash six planes NOT in combat - he was such a bewildering fuck-up that he was finally shipped off to Nam and put in harms way even through he was an admirals son...

edit = typo

21. and it's pieces of crap like this that dare to complain about affirmitive action programs....
Seriously, if we lived in a true libertarian meritocracy like the conservitives want, where you succeeded or failed on your own merits, then 85% of the republican party would be homeless, eating roadkill, and giving bj's for pocket change.

19. It is scary to know that who someone is descended from
counts for more than his level of achievement in the naval academy. I don't think anyone, including McCain himself, believes he'd have graduated if his daddy and grandpa hadn't been famous big-shot admirals. It's possible he wouldn't even have been admitted in the first place.
