Howard Dean on the Blue Dogs from NPR's Talk of the Nation:
http://www.chelseagreen.com/content/listen-howard-dean-talks-about-the-blue-dog-dems-blocking-real-healthcare-reform/

CONAN: Let’s get listeners involved in the conversation. And we want to talk with Democrats today, since this appears to be an argument within the Democratic Party.

Dr. DEAN: It is, but that’s okay because, you know, that’s why I actually like what the Blue Dogs are doing. I don’t agree with every single thing they do, but since we can’t have conservatives from the Republican Party, because they’re not interested in the bill and they really just want to kill it to get at Obama, we need some conservative input to that, and that’s why I think the Blue Dogs are so valuable. And I have to say that if they’d taken their lunch and gone home last week when they made the compromise, then you could castigate them. But they sat down, they worked it out, and this bill is going to be closer to what the American people like because of the compromises that were made, I think.

1. Well, apparently even the good Doctor can be dead wrong now and then.
The Blue Dogs do not improve the bill by bring a conservative perspective to it. They are in fact just like their Republican counterparts, intent only in killing or delaying the bill and making the final product as toothless as possible so as to present no threat to the continued excessive profits of the insurance, pharmacy, and medical "industries" in this country.

2. "this bill is going to be closer to what the American people like because of the compromises that we
...were made."

He knows better, so this isn't a miscalculation, but a lie.

4. I know this may come as a shock to you but most Americans are not Left Wing Progressives like us.
Obama is very sincere in his desire to reach All Americans, and not just those that agree with the Democrats.

5. So true,
and let's not forget, President Obama is a thinking man. I believe he is playing chest while others are still playing dominoes. Our president is working through channels to teach others how to think also. I also believe that, the missed health care deadline was an intentional and a good thing. The American people need the time to discuss the issues and understand what is actually taking place.

7. I thought I'd post this since Dean, along with Kucinich and Feingold are local heroes.
Apparently he now will also be claimed to have feet a clay and may be added to the list of "liars" and sellouts. Yes, most Americans are not in the Liberal Left (seems to be a common delusion) although most want healthcare reform although does anyone here really know exactly what kind of healthcare reform that "most" Americans want? Also, because people do not agree with the Liberal Left does not mean there is a vast conspiracy although it does tend to stoke their paranoia.

attention.
