Cornyn, Freepers all bent out of shape over Obama email plan.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2308917/posts

In an article in The Hill, Cornyn is reportedly very P.O.ed about the White Houses email address for sending bogus health scare emails for review by the White House, and has sent President Obama a letter, telling him in no uncertain terms to knock it off. Apparently, the right wing is worried that the White House will be compiling an "enemies list" based on such forwarded emails.

Poor babies. They send out lies, but now don't want you forwarding their emails containing them to the flag@whitehouse.gov address. They're all worried about losing their anonymity.

Now, here's the funny part: Some moronic freeper is asking everyone on FR to send a nasty email to that address, just to spite the White House. Of course, the White House won't take any notice of ugly, threatening first-hand email. Nope.

Here's a link to Cornyn's letter to Obama regarding this:

http://briefingroom.thehill.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/cornynletter.pdf

Yup, Freepers: Email the President and tell him how angry you are that he's saving email addresses. Tell him just what you'd like to do to him and his administration. Don't hold back! Do it today!

2. One Note for everyone to help the White House:
If you forward one of these idiotic lying healthcare mass emails, be sure to use your email client's tools to display all header information before forwarding it. That will assist the White House in identifying the sources of such lies. Thanks for your cooperation.

13. I'm confused about this....
What exactly is the Obama administration going to do with these emails once they get them? Send out a "letter of correction" to those persons? Send someone to go have a talk with them? Develop an ad campaign to counter the (dis)information in the emails? What is the point of collecting these emails?

15. I'm pretty sure they're planning to send out countering emails.
They'll probably also incorporate the information into their other efforts to get the truth out, too.

It's just a faster way to collect the lies that are circulating so they can counter them.

16. my guess
1) publicize the sheer number of emails with false info
2) publicize the sources of same - especially if they are linked to private insurers and/or political parties
3) count on the growing number of citizens who get correct info to vote

But maybe they'll just invite them for a beer?

I don't like the government, any government, taking names of political opposition. It sort of reeks of Iran or Russia or China, ya' know? Call me an idealistic fool if you want, but I grew up in the 60's and this would have been a Nixon thing, not what I would expect out of Obama.

39. Novice at this
I've been too busy until recently to do anything other than catch a quick read during lunch on some of the threads. So I finally made time to set up an account so I can participate. Looking at the number of posts that some people have I'm guessing they either post a LOT or have been around a long time.

Any predictions on how long it will take to have someone jump down my throat when I disagree with them?

53. If you are suspected of not being
a liberal democrat there's a good chance you'll be shown the door. The rules say all progressives are welcome, but sometimes as I read various threads I think the real litmus test, at least for the other users, is if you're a liberal democrat or not.

60. You are entitled to be who you are
And we are entitled to be who we are. And DU is entitled to make and enforce its own rules. (I am not a mod, nor did I ask to be one in response to the recent campaign. I'm just someone who enjoys sharing political discussion with like-minded people.)

I also vote for candidates who I believe will serve the interests of the people. (Not so sure about the US of A, since that national interest label has been so often abused to mean the profit interests of our large corporations and more specifically justify the killing of foreigners in the name of perpetuating the war machine.)

In my case those candidates have never been of the GOP party. I have voted some Greens, Socialists, etc. as well as an overwhelming majority of Democrats.

44. There is no invasion of privacy when they do it in public
Once you send something in an email, including your email address, there's no expectation of privacy. ALL politicians have ALWAYS, since the founding of our nation, collected information about its' supporters and its' critics.

There's nothing wrong whatsoever about collecting such information. It's stupid if they don't. If there's anything wrong there, it has to do with what they do with that information

I wonder how many anonymizer websites are run by the NSA? Those are popular amongst freepers and their ilk, too. They'll never find them, they believe as they hide in plain sight.
