Putin: Man of Action/Adventure!

By James Rodgers
BBC News

The Tuva holidays of Vladimir Putin - the title of a summer blockbuster film?

The name of a thriller about an ex-KGB officer just trying to enjoy a quiet life, but who keeps getting drawn back to solve problems which defeat everyone else?

No, but there might be something to that…

It is actually the headline which the website of one of Russia's leading news agencies, Ria Novosti, put above a selection of official photographs of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin enjoying a summer break in a remote region of Siberia.

Mr Putin is shown standing on a rocky mountain slope; resting in the branches of a tree; swimming in a river; riding a horse.

In most of the photos, he wears military-style clothes and boots. In the equestrian shots, he is shirtless.

In a country where most men do not live until the age of 60, Mr Putin stands out as an example of someone who has looked after himself.

I wonder if Sarah Palin’s been watching him from Alaska.

6. If Duvall were 20 years younger and in excellent shape, then yes...
Duvall has already portrayed Stalin, so Putin would be a breeze--it Duvall were a couple decades younger. Not sure who else could play a convincing Putin.

7. Russian media outlets are saying that Russian women are hot for Putin's "vigorous torso".

Russian men are said to envy his strength. I saw another article that said the gay community in Russia believes this may be Putin's way of signalling a more tolerant stance towards homosexuality.

I would love to see a Russian reporter ask Putin if that's the case. Better yet, Obama could ask him.

9. Or even better, Obama could go on a Siberian camping adventure with him.
They could ride horses together (shirtless, of course), go swimming in pristine lakes, tranquilize some tigers, climb some trees, wrestle some bears...

What a great reality show that would make!

11. I hope somebody makes a Vladimir Putin action figure.
He'd make a good cartoon, too. They could have him trying to catch the Road Runner, or he could hunt Bugs Bunny, or steal Olive Oil from Popeye.
