Stop Glenn Beck petition

http://www.colorofchange.org/beck/?id=1994-117459

It's for race baiting but he's promoting terrorism too.

1. I think I'd rather have him stay
He and his ilk do so much damage to their side it's only win for the Dems from here on whenever these idiots open their mouths. Why emulate the tactics of the far right and try to censor?

8. His absence will not stop them anymore.
The presence of a "black kenyan" in the "white house" is more than enough to drive them even crazier. Why are they afraid of gun control? Because violence is their next, last hope. They lost the battle of ideas. They lost the theological war on America. Their faith based initiatives failed. They lost the battle of the ballot box, despite organized efforts to steal elections. They lost their effort to politicize the entire DOJ. They lost their war of attrition on civil rights, Environmental protection, and other federal agencies.

They have one, last chance left. It involved their bibles and guns. Not in that order.

2. Nice -
a petition to stop speech.

Go read the First Amendment again, remember that the ugliest speech needs the most protection, and that online petitions are crap and a waste of time.

Perhaps people might think about letting law enforcement officials enforce the law? These cyber-vigilantes who decide what "promoting terrorism" means are just flabby and tiresome..........................

4. Have you considered the possibility that Beck's speech is intended
to inspire violence against our President? In other words he is getting the crazy's whipped into a dangerous and violent frenzy.

10. Have you considered
the obvious fact that he's an entertainer?

Jesus, use your head................

11. Will that make the victims of the right wing violence he insights
any less dead? Sorry I am not buying into the "he's an entertainer" defense.

14. It's not a defense -
it's a statement of fact.

Like it or not, the First Amendment is far more important than the hysterical fears of someone showman's fomenting dissent.

Dissent matters, and Beck has every right to say what he says. I don't particularly like defending him, but I must defend his Constitutional right. It's part of what makes our country so great.....................

15. Most people believe the First Amendment has limits
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 06:07 PM by NJmaverick
especially when one speaks in a manner to insight violence

As for your condescending "hysterical fears" comment.... Time for you to take a more mature and intellectually honest approach

16. My approach is time-honored -
and the use of "hysterical" was quite deliberate.

You might want to explain the limits on free speech to your fellow DUer who claimed downthread that such is not the case, that FREE SPEECH is an absolute thing.

What people don't know is impressive, but I do believe their hearts are in the right place.

But, still, the lack of understanding and knowledge is troubling............................................

17. Your approach is fantasy or unrealistic idealism
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 06:12 PM by NJmaverick
while mine is actually grounded in the rule of law. I am sure "hysterical" was deliberate. A deliberate attempt to boister a very weak position, by trying to piss me off and distract me from the issues.

Now as for your rather ironic charge of "lack of understanding and knowledge"... I suggest it is you that needs to learn a bit about the first amendment and US case law.:eyes:

7. My protest is that I couldn't pick one of these tv talking heads out of a lineup.
Edited on Sun Aug-02-09 01:43 PM by tritsofme
I've never watched them before, I don't know who they are.

"Petitions" like this always seem juvenile to me.
