Father of the 8 year old Rape victim wants her back, but no punishment for rapists
i have to wonder if they are looking to hurt her themselves. he wants nothing to happen to the rapists ? it wasn't just him but her sister blamed the girl also.

<Earlier this week, the girl's father told ABC15 he loved his daughter and planned to get her back.

"I need her back, I want her back, and they (Child Protective Services) said I can have her back in three months," he said.

The father also said the family moved to the United States five years ago from West Africa and they don't understand the United States' criminal system.

When asked what he wants to happen to the suspects involved in the assault against his daughter, he answered, "nothing."

Police are exploring what impact culture may have played in the incident and in the parent's response. >

3. His "nothing" answer speaks volumes of his unfitness to parent the child.
Keep her safe -- and away from those would would enable her abuse again, I believe, if given the chance to raise her.

6. The man left his culture in Liberia when he moved to America - so when in Rome do as the Romans do.

12. Liberia is a shit culture...
It's been even more corrupted by fundamentalist Christianity than the most backwards parts of Jesusland.

5. Flame Away...

9. No flaming... Respect of culture does not include breaking US law
No one is flaming... Nor would I expect anyone to do so. US law and the very foundation of our civil rights tenets applies. Cultural sensitivity does not trump that. A court appointed Guardian ad litem needs to be appointed for this child until they reach adulthood. I can not imagine a situation any time in the foreseeable future that return to her parents would be an option.

7. those people should not get that girl back. i'd hate to see what her life would be like
since they blame her for what happened. It would be the worst thing to happen to her, i think. like being violated again.

8. I'm for sending this guy and the rapists back to Liberia. The girl should stay here
and hopefully be adopted by a good family.

I see no good coming for this child if she is sent back to such a dysfunctional family. And the father and those rapists have pretty much proven to me not to be very great additions to our society...

11. i agree with you
it would be wise of the authorities to look deeply into the culture from which this family comes. what if he does only want her back so he can kill her to restore his family's "honor"? that mindset is incomprehensible to me but i know that it does exist and that girls/women are in some cultures worth less than nothing.

how can it even be possible that an 8-year-old girl could be at fault for her own gang rape?! like i said, incomprehensible to me.

17. I don't want my AZ tax dollars
being used to "look deeply into their culture". Just keep the kid out of his hands forever.

15. Their Cultural Influences Should...
not be taken into consideration. They are not in Liberia anymore and not subject to any facet of Liberian Law. They could easily live under Liberian Culture in Liberia.

16. To label the father a "fucking asshole..."
...is an insult to fucking assholes.

Geeeeeeeez, change the facts a bit: What if there was no rape and the daughter was the victim of a brutal physical assault which scarred her physically. Would this jerk still think that those who harmed his child should have no punishment???

What in the hell is wrong with him that he literally blames his young child for being the victim of a rape???
