Economists serve no purpose!
They are about as useless as McNamara's wiz kids!

I've even had take a micro-economics class at AUM. At the end of every class, I felt like my head was going to explode from all of the sheer simple-minded ludicrously flawed theories I just heard or read.

2. Shh! They think they're important.
For the rest of us, they represent a repository of spare parts. ;)

3. Disagree. I listened to Paul Krugman last fall and moved all our 401K funds into ready assets.
Didn't lose a penny of that money but unfortunately I didn't act on a roll-over acct and lost 40% there ( luckily it was a small % of our retirement funds). I have Krugman's blog bookmarked and I listen to what he says!

5. I think that most if us who agree with Krugman already know what he's telling us.
That's why we agree with him. He gives what we think credence.

4. They do have a purpose. It's to make your life hell in college.
I had a very hard time with those graphs and which why the lines are supposed to move with this or that happening.

I have a "propensity" to feel like you do about economists.

6. I enrolled in a few econ courses at my university
and aced them without ever really studying. My professor wanted me to switch majors (from Math and Computer Science) to Economics. I was there to meet cheerleaders and sorority girls. I laughed at him and told him that the entire "science" seemed bogus.

7. Economists are nearly as good as weathermen.

OF course, economists and financial analysts are not necessarily the same thing.

9. well the classical economics that right wingers practice is crap
But the Keynesian stuff is right on the money. Too bad America's too right wing to adopt actual economic theories that work.

10. On a related subject, my economics textbook was written by W's economic adviser!
If you wanna know why I'm pissed. Not to mention that taking those classes was like having an ice pick stuck in you skull, you can't wait to get it out.

11. Someone I know who uses the services of economists every day in his job says
economists are like pilots flying using only instruments. I thought that was a good analogy.
