Ass u me
Too many ass u me that Crowley is a rogue cop rascist.

Too many ass u me that Gates was not disorderly.

How many of you were there to witness what happened?...... None.

I'd like to see the police department release the tapes of the 911 call and the radio communication that followed. Maybe that would shed some light on the situation.

One things for sure, I dont't want these folks on any jury that might have to decide my fate.

1. I'd rather have people like me on any jury...
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 05:36 PM by HiFructosePronSyrup
than that crazy fucking racist cop running around.

"Too many ass u me that Crowley is a rogue cop rascist.

Too many ass u me that Gates was not disorderly."

I mean honestly, that logic's hilarious.

Assume he wasn't disorderly?

Really?

Thanks for littering.

6. Another vanity thread...
OOOOO I started a thread. Ooooo look at me! You're right, it's litter. Every Michael Jackson fan needed his/her own thread and many of these had one or two responses. Every Sarah Palin opponent needed his/her own thread with the idiot announced her retirement, and again, many of these had one or two responses. And here it is again.

Hide thread...but dang it gets old, does't it?

7. Right up there with "My take on the Gates situation" threads.
Isn't every post on every thread about that topic someone's "take" on it?

I unrecommend all such threads, for they are nothing but hubris.

35. Your invoking "the lynch mob mentality" in support of a white racist cop is rich.
And typical of a certain type of person.

4. The cop admitted that he arrested Gates because Gates said something bad about his mom.
In a real legal system, that's enough to get a conviction against the cop, not Gates.

19. As professor Angela Davis pointed out, the cop got Gates to come outside so he could arrest him.
Edited on Fri Jul-24-09 06:13 PM by TexasObserver
You see, there was no case for Disorderly Conduct in Gates' house. The cop had to get Gates to come outside, in front of others, so the cop could make a case for D.C.

The cop got mad at Gates for the things Gates said, and he contrived the arrest to punish Gates. This kind of stuff happens every day, all over America, by cops who think their personal ego is more sacrosanct than the constitution.

26. I'd like to know if he was the only black officer on the scene.
If not, what do the other black officers say?

If so, how much pressure would a single black officer feel to not speak out against a bunch of white officers?

If this black officer doesn't feel pressure, could he just not care, or not think it's wrong? Michael Steele represents policies that are clearly not in the best interest of African American community, and it's possible this officer could feel as much, or more, loyalty to the thin blue line than to the AA community.

All of these are just possibilities, but one black person doesn't represent all black people any more than a one white person represents all white people.

It was a completely unnecessary and unjustified arrest.

24. Gates should have known better
He had the intellectual gravitas in this situation. Arguing with cops is just stupid... I guess I'm a city kid... oh wait, we're talking a black man in Chicago... yeah, I was right. Gates should have known better.

He would have done the world a favor by doing what the cop asked, and if the cop got out of line, remain calm and continue to do as he was told. Then he would have had all the ammo in the world to bring charges against the cop. His actions clearly muddied the water.

27. The assumptions go both ways actually
Who knows what was actually said? *If* the officer said something racist then it would explain why Gates got upset and was yelling. Or he just has a hot head. Who knows? But it's not like racism doesn't exist and that black males particularly don't get singled out by the law... *That* never happens.

We weren't there. We don't what was said and what order it was said in.
