Ever been handcuffed?
Scarey stuff...what did that cop think the little old man with the cane was going to do, hit him with it? I guess we can be thankful a taser wasn't used.

3. White cops came to my white neighbor's house and handcuffed him on FATHER's DAY
and took him downtown.

His kid had gotten in a scuffle with a cop's kid and the cop filed a report. My neighbor called and the folks at the city said he could come in any time the next week to sign papers, get finger-printed, etc. So, Sunday, Father's Day he's sitting at home and there's a knock at the door. He's with his two kids, whom he hands off to a neighbor, and is handcuffed and taken 'downtown'.

7. Yes.
A few times, in fact. The last time, the fellow who handcuffed me then beat my head into the blacktop for an extended period. It wasn't a pleasant experience. From there, I was placed in a holding cell for several hours. Upon release, I went to a court room, and the "charges" against me were quietly dropped.

I've also had numerous experiences with police officers that I have come to have great respect for. There is a huge range of personality types in police work: from thugs with a badge and gun, to men and women who represent some of the best in our society.

12. Yeah- wrongfully so....
New Orleans, during Mardi Gras probably 10+ years ago. The police thought I was part of a group of people who were jumping over a barricade to cut through a private alleyway. I was just following them on my way back to my group from the porta-potty. All of a sudden, I'm grabbed, thrown on the hood of a cop car and cuffed. Fortunately, my group was only a few steps away and saw what happened. Words were exchanged and they ultimately let me go.

13. Have you ever given them a reason to handcuff you by breaking the law?

15. Yes.
I was working retail and one of the novelty items we carried was hadcuffs. they were real - cheapish, but real.

When I was robbed, the robber disconnected the store phone and handcuffed me ( behind my back) to make it more difficult to call the police. Truth to tell, it barely slowed me down once he left.

Like a mantra, he kept repeating "I'm not gonna hurt you, I'm not gonna hurt you."

Thank God he didn't. I'll never let myself be bound like that again. It's a death sentence. I was lucky, lucky, lucky.
