Hopefully, Don Imus will be just the beginning
of cleaning up our national airways of racist filth.

I see a big ole bullseye on Rush and Coulter's foreheads.....

just NOT get paid mega million $$$ to spout their hatred.

The worst thing that that happen to somebody with a microphone is to take away their ability to broadcast, making them irrelevant.

...and make him apologize to them on air. There are a lot of alternatives other than just shutting him up.

28. That would just give the show more credibility than it deserves.
REV. AL SHARPTON: "If he thinks he's a good guy, as he’s saying, and he was misunderstood, then he ought to say that, and I will say to him, “If you're a good guy, you'll resign and help to keep a precedent that this cannot be tolerated in America.” This is not personal. What he did was racist and sexist and should not be given a pass because he’s commercially successful."

16. If you haven't noticed , there is very little competition on the
airwaves for these guys due to the loss of the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE. Why should they be allowed their freedom of speech and not the opposition?

22. That's a specious argument, and you know it. The rightwing broadcasters are popular because
rightwingers are fucking sheep, and want to have their opinions GIVEN to them on the radio and TV.

We, on the other hand, make our own opinions because we're smarter than the rightwingers.

That's the reason, not the Fairness Doctrine. (Which I agree whould be brought back anyway.)

35. The fact is that with the Fairness Doctrine they would have tons
of competition.I feel that because of the lack of it is the primary reason they have become so influential.

27. In This Case, Ratings Make Right
Just like Rush got away with all of his drugs, because of his ratings.

Jimmy the Greek and others got canned because they were easy to jettison. No one tuned in, specifically, to hear what they had to say.

Throw Imus off the air and the stockholders could get hurt.

(I'm not saying this is the way it should be, just that Imus isn't going to go without a lot more pressure.)

33. What would be American (as in ideal American)
would be to give Imus' platform to one or all of the girls on the Rutger's team. He's not so special.

Or give it to Twisty Faster. I'm sure she has 100 times the wit of Imus.

What we have is a sexist, racist system and you are defending it.

at all.

The First Amendment guarantees your right to free speech unfettered by the GOVERNMENT. Private entities and individuals can censor your ass til the cows come home.

Please, people, your ignorance is showing. Read the damn Bill of Rights sometime, eh?

12. I SO hope you are correct...
With morbid curiousity, as I believe the old adage, "Know thy enemy"
I sometimes listen to the brownshirt media radio shows.
These people need to be pulled from the airwaves and
sent to prison for their promotion of hate.
They are criminals, as are the sponsors who support them.
BOYCOTT.

31. I agree.. It's not a first amendment violation
if someone gets fired for being an asshole. Imus can say whatever he wants, and people can pay him if they want. And I can protest it all I want. I'm not violating anyone's "First Amendment Rights" by wanting them kicked off the air because they aren't doing their job. Imus's job is to entertain, if he considers spewing racism entertainment then he ought to be fired for sucking at his job.
