“Sorry about this one, but because of privacy issues, we're not giving out any information about the congressman's living arrangements,” Shuler spokesman Doug Abrahms said via e-mail when asked whether the congressman lived at C Street.
Worldmag.com, a Christian magazine, listed Shuler, D-Waynesville, as a “current resident” of the house, along with Sens. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Reps. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., Mike Doyle, D-Pa., and Bart Stupak, D-Mich.

The World.com article described The Fellowship as “an opaque foundation” but noted that congressional staffers said the house is “secret by design” so members can build trust and be comfortable that discussions won't be leaked to the media.
Gibbs Knotts, a political science professor at Western Carolina University, said he couldn't see how Shuler's possible residency in the house could hurt him here in the mountains.
“Where we are, it's generally a churchgoing district where a large percentage of the people regularly attend church and consider themselves Christians,” Knotts said.
