Him and his entire crew. But at least he his an ass who knows it. While we are filling up the board with how much we want to see the guy fired, the really right wing nuts are running free and will be on a tv show near you today and tomorrow. We got people calling us un-american, defeatist, saying we don't care about the troops or unborn children, we are wackos, tree huggers, communists, murders, saying we care about the rights of criminals more than we do victims.... I could go on and on with crap that is spewed out on in the main stream media every single day. Firing Imus ain't going to get her done. It will be a start you say? I don't think so. As long as there is a Fox news, Sean, Rush, Ann, Michelle, suck ass media and other nuts out there getting a voice every single day.

1. My dilemma...I like Imus

If I support 99.9% of "democratic" issues and have been here for maybe 7 years. This issue comes up and I wonder why I'm suddenly on the "other" side, and since I am, it makes me wonder what other differences there are in my perception of a person's character, the quality of forgiveness, and reasoned debate there is.

I think there is more here than Imus' racist comment. I think there's opportunism by Al Sharpton, and a gleeful piling on to to completely demolish someone's career which I think is wrong too.

I've offended some on here today, and I want to apologize. A few people have put me on their ignore list - so they won't know I've tried to apologize. Funny how that works.

I see the racism, I just don't see the solution as making Imus lose his job.

12. I do, too, for the most part. If he's particularly nasty or has a guest on
that does nothing for me (like Beau every Monday), I am free to turn the channel. I'm glad he's getting suspended; maybe he (and Bernie) will keep that in mind in future and tone it down.
I also value some of the things he's done, like getting the injured soldiers' center built, ranting and raving about Walter Reed, his work with kids with cancer.

19. No, Morgana

That's not what I'm saying. Thanks for trying to clarify, though.

2. I would prefer to see Hannity and Savage pulled from the air...
and let Imus stay. The first two are much worse than the third. The third is still a pile of shit though.

6. Are you black? You complain about
Sean, Rush, Hannity, Ann, and Michelle smearing us every day. Well, I hate that too, and I'd like to get their hate filled crap off the air as well. However saying that Imus is less than a problem than they are is disingenuous. Imus is a racist, has been his whole life, just because he has some liberal tendancies does not make him less of a problem than all the other people you listed.

8. I agree...
If I were making a list of people that ought to be taken off the airwaves, Imus would be 11th or 12th on that list.

11. I agree there. We have greater problems in this country than Imus.
The majority are concerned about the small stuff while we are going down under the weight of more serious problems.

Fire Imus while Sean, Rush, Ann and all the other hatemongers will continue to spew 24/7, I don't see the fairness there. And believe me those people will never be fired no matter what names they call fine upstanding persons like Gore, Clinton, Kerry or others.

13. There are three big reasons to promote his firing.
Edited on Mon Apr-09-07 06:46 PM by higher class
1. People just don't get it that is was NBC GE Microsoft, plus his producer, Bernard (who is worse than Imus), and all the intermediate executives who sanctioned the bigotry over many years.
2. This show is a vehicle for quippy propaganda - employees and guests get to push the Republican agenda and the Democratic put-down.
3. The bigotry coming out of that studio has gone way over the line. Bernard McQuirk, the impersonators, and the doofus. Abuse passing as goodness, product pushing, propaganda, put-down, and the continual hate it generates. H

How many times did Bernard say dishcloth on their heads in relation to Muslims? How vile did they get about Hispanics? Females and staff were verbally abused on air. Bernard is supposed to have said a three word phrase ending in twat in relation to Hillary.

MSNBC can do better.

17. How about this from 2000 ?- Russert -Imus' McGuirk - Bigotry
Why Does Tim Russert Associate With Don Imus' Bigotry?

3/1/00

If you're concerned about bigotry on the syndicated radio show Imus in the Morning, you should just "get over it."

That's what the show's star, Don Imus, told journalist Jeff Greenfield on CNN's Larry King Live last week (2/24/00). Greenfield was questioning Imus about recent columns in two prominent newspapers that documented a pattern of slurs by Imus and his on-air sidekicks against people of color, gay men and lesbians (Boston Globe, 2/23/00; Newsday, 2/22/00--see below).

Imus himself has referred to one African-American journalist as "a cleaning lady," another as a "quota hire," and tennis player Amelie Mauresmo as "a big old lesbo." Imus taunted another reporter as a "beanie-wearing little Jewboy," called a disabled colleague "the cripple," and has said that he picked one of his producers to do "nigger jokes" (60 Minutes, 7/19/98).

National politicians and beltway journalists have brought the Imus in the Morning show to nationwide prominence--the show is now carried by cable network MSNBC--by making Imus a regular stop on their media rounds.
