"I want to see his birth certificate" "He's not a citizen"
Those sayings, and the litany of others that are similar, are nothing short of racist.

I haven't posted on this, and don't plan to again.

I hate racists.

11. Actually, she made me somewhat concerned that my citizenship has been revoked
my original birth certificate - the one my oh-so-organized mother has had ever since she left the hosptial with me - looks a lot like the way she described hers. All sorts of information, time of birth, hospital, what # pregnancy I was, doctor's signature father's & mother's occupation and an official seal Though, she said hers was issued by the United States, mine was issued by the state of Minnesota (county of Hennepin).

A couple years ago when I applied for a passport I decided to get a new copy of the certificate rather than send my precious heirloom off to the State Department. (Besides, I could get it at the same time & place I applied for the passport). The new, 2007 version of my birth certificate looks a lot like the one they show as Obama's - not nearly as much information as the original though it still has a seal on it. Do you suppose I am no longer a legal U.S. resident?????

20. I was trying to be funny
she was partially basing her "claim" on the difference between what's on her birth certificate and what's on Obama's and that all that extra information on her certificate "proves" she's a citizen.

It sounds like the orignal copy of mine looks like her certificate, but my recently issued one looks a lot like Obama's. So, if I follow her logic that less information on a birth certificate puts one's citizenship in doubt, then I'm in trouble though the State Department did issue me a passport even with that "faulty" certificate I sent them.

30. Actually....

If the document you describe is what your mother had since "she left the hospital", that document is not a birth certificate anyway.

Birth certificates are not issued by hospitals. They are issued by state offices. The form you get from the hospital is pretty much a souvenir with no legal significance at all.

In fact County Recorder's Offices across the nation have received many checks from me in my quest for family documentation of birth and death certificates.

51. In Iowa, the county issues them up to a point,
and then, after some amount of time, they go to the state. I had to get a birth certificate in order to get my Illinois driver's license. I contact my home county, and the county recorder told me I had to get it from some office in Des Moines. So, I did. It cost me $15. And it looks pretty much like the one Obama has made public. Guess the birthers would doubt my citizenship, too.

22. No, you're fine -
the same thing happened to me - and now, for some reason, I have three copies of my birth certificate, plus my original.

The details - weight, mother's maiden name, stuff like that - are all on file with the issuing state, and can be retrieved in an instant, so there's no need to duplicate it and have more personal information readily available out there.

It's really for our protection, and I like it.

You're safe - not to worry...................

24. Again - I was trying to be funny.
I was not really worried. After all, the new one is what was sent to and accepted by the State Department for my passport.

That birther nut was trying to imply that something was wrong with Obama's certificate because it didn't show as much detail as hers.

27. Oh yeah, she ranted about all the information that was on it
and how that somehow proved that Obama's certificate is a fake.

My other poor attempt at humor was her shrieking about her certificate being from the "United States of America"; mine comes from a mere state (actually a lowly county in a mere state) as do most birth certificates.

She was also yammering about her dad fighting in WWII and being part of the "greatest generation". How that proves she's a citizen, I'm not sure. It really was quite entertaining in a twisted sort of way and I thought her performance alone was enough to totally discredit these birther nut jobs.

31. It seems cyclical, doesn't it?
There was that whackjob lady at the McPOW rally, when she tried to say that Obama was a Muslim, and McPOW took the mike from here and said no, Obama was "a good family man" - because, you know, Muslims are NEVER "good family men."

Then SNL did a skit about her, and it was hilarious.

Too bad SNL is on hiatus for the summer - they could do something wonderful with this latest headcase. I sat up when she shangaied the audience - and you know they all shared her beliefs - into standing for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Boy, if THAT wasn't proof of citizenship, I don't know what is. :sarcasm:

I'm sick of these people. I hate their their votes count the same as ours....................

43. I have various "generations" of my birth certificate
Since whenever I needed a copy I was unable to find the one I already had.

When I needed the copy for my Drivers License when I turned 16, I obtained a copy that the records office person typed the information onto with a typewriter and stamped with the seal.

When I needed the copy a couple years later, I obtained a copy that had a scan of what might have been the original certificate printed onto security paper (microprinting and watermarks in it).

The latest one I have has all of the information of the previous ones printed by computer on security paper that looks a lot like President Obama's certificate.

Three certificates, all issued by the same office, appear completely different. I guess that means I'm not Amurikan?

35. I've got three versions of my birth certificate which makes for an interesting comparison
The first is a cool certificate from the hospital, much like the crazy lady described and signed by the doctor and the hospital administrator. But the gold seal was never embossed so I don't have that part. And hers didn't have the neat baby footprints on the back with the thumbprints of my mother, at least she didn't mention those in her diatribe. Nyah, nyah, nyah, crazy lady!

Oddly enough THAT one is not a legal birth certificate according to the State of Florida. Along with that one, my parents were given a 'receipt' acknowledging that my birth had been registered with the state and including the certificate number as listed by the state.

Then there is a 'long form' birth certificate that my parents got for some reason in 1963. It is a negative copy probably from a microfiche and includes a good amount of info.

The most recent one I got last week looks to be on the same form as Obama's and does not include as much information on the old one. But it is just as legal as the others and probably more legal than the one from the hospital. Does that invalidate my earlier birth certificates?

3. They can't let go -
it's the last delusion they have that they can cling to. To let that go would be to have to admit that a vast number of Americans chose a black man to be our President, and they, the racists who were so coddled during the previous administration, cannot believe that they're suddenly so wrong, so outdated, so stupid, and so utterly without meaning or significance.

They have to keep screaming about it.

Meanwhile, along with our President Obama, we'll just keep going forward, doing the best we can.

Laugh at them, Stinky.

But you did good to post this.

19. Look at it this way -- it keeps them busy.
When Sparkly Jr. was a toddler, the one thing that would keep her occupied for up to 15 minutes was one of her shoes and puzzling out the shoelaces. It made her crazy with frustration sometimes, but it was a puzzle she got so intent on solving, she was out of mischief for a while.

Or, when we want to get the German shepherd away from out dinner plates on the deck, we throw a stick. Off she goes.

So, these idiots are making themselves crazy over this. At least it keeps them busy, and keeps them away from any actual, for-real issues. And it puts their representatives on the spot, showing them up for the asshats they are.

It keeps some of them from freaking out and lying about policy issues. Healthcare? International negotiations? Evolution? Hey!! Hillary Clinton killed Vince Foster and the moon landing was a hoax and President Obama is a Muslim who isn't a US citizen and -- this just in -- the Democrats in Congress are all robots planted here by a secret society of Socialists to destroy our nation!! I know they say that the president isn't a citizen and isn't eligible, but what are they basing this on? I would assume they have to at least think they have some sort o basis for their argument, right? I would also assume that such documents to prove the president is in a fact a citizen do exist and were presented, or we wouldn't be calling him the president, right? So what exactly more do they claim they want, and why hasn't it just been put out there just so they stfu? Or has it, and they are just ignoring it?

now, if anyone questioned john mccain's citizenship.... considering he was born in panama.... it is racist, because if you said anything about him being born in panama, the response would be that his parents were americans. well, obama's mother was american. so then so is obama, no matter where is was born, which was in hawaii... last time i checked hawaii was a state as of the date of obama's birth.

53. Seriously, I'm encouraged by the birthers.
Watergate was a manufactured scandal, of course, but it did have some elements to it that were a little questionable. It was mainstream enough that Republican politicians could ride it, and it fed all the fishing expeditions and eventually Monica to bring down a popular president.

If the birther movement is Obama's Whitewater, well, all I can do is laugh. It's just plain silly and makes them look like the vile angry racist loonies they are.
