"Dear Senetor, I am a mother in a family of 3."

"Dear Senetor, I am a mother in a family of 3. I cant afford medical for my family how sad huh? My 3 yr old has no medical, because I half to choose food , and clothes and a life for my family. The goverment dosnt help people like us. I know how the seniors feel. I find it sad that the seniors who built this country, mostly with their sweat and hands on poor wages are having a hard time affording medical. It should be free to them. You senetors and people in congress just let them suffer, and watch as the drug companies make thier record profits just like the oil companys. This goverment dosnt care about its people anymore but rather how much money you the goverment offials are making.Shame on you for not taking care of this countries elders. thank you"

Just saw this post on The Petition Site (this petition was concerning seniors and drug prices) and 2 things struck me about it:
First, and most obvious, the bad grammar and spelling.
Two, the honesty and disgust.
This person, it sounds like, is in no better position than our seniors, but she has taken the time to express her opinion, as best she can, at the horrible way this country treats them. I may be judging/assuming here, but: had I seen a post this poorly written on freerepublic, I would not have thought twice about it. But because it was a plea for affordable medical care, I can only assume that this poster is democrat.

Now my question: Have we written off the undereducated as right wingers who will vote against their best interests, or have we written them off because we think that they will not understand our goals? Or-have we written them off at all? (in some places, I think we have).

1. Many people don't identify themselves as being aligned with a
particular political party and, if they vote, they vote for the man more than the party. I can't say whether we have written them off the undereducated or not, but they have very little influence in politics due to lack of money and lack of power. Sad, but true.

2. We haven't written off the undereducated as right wingers.
We've written off the right wingers as uneducated.

3. Looks like a fake to me...
In this "letter" the writer misspells have (half), doesn't (dosnt), senators (senetors), officals (offials) and spells companies correct once and then misspells it in the next sentence????? Also doesn't specify which Senator or who it's from and there is no link????

Sounds like BS to me....

What 3 year old is not covered by our government?????

5. Here ya go:
Not sure whether it's a fake post or not, but does that make her point (and mine in the OP) any less valid?

7. Slogans, Fear and Religion
You point I assume is the question of uneducated voters and whether they are "written off". Well if you are uneducated you can't make an informed decision especially concerning politics. It's complicated and takes a rudimentary grasp of history and current world events. The uneducated are easily led by the Republican strategy of simple slogans and fear mongering and religious banter.

So yes I would have to say they are written off.

6. Mine wasn't.
I was offered healthcare at work, but couldn't afford it, so I turned to the government and was told that, since it was offered to me at work, they wouldn't provide it.

I ended up getting private coverage for my son and none for me to the tune of $100 a month. Lucky for me he had no pre-existing conditions or I wouldn't have been able to afford private insurance.

8. I wonder if this person even votes
She would seem to fit into the demographic of poor and uneducated which is the least likely group to participate in the political process. However, given that she has taken the initiative to write this post/letter, that is a step above the minimum participation of voting so she just might vote too. If so, she would be a member of the very low percentage of this demographic that participates politically.
