If Limbaugh can be dumped by ESPN for an ill-informed opinion about Donovan McNabb...
...if Rosenberg can be dropped by WFAN for his vile comments about Kylie Minogue’s battle with breast cancer, then Imus deserves the same treatment, despite his status.

Of course, there are enormous profits to consider, and so the cowards at MSNBC and WFAN are simply standing back, distancing themselves from Imus, reminding viewers and listeners that the man speaks only for himself — even though he does it on their time and networks. The fact that he was even on the air Friday, two days after his comments, was in itself a disgrace.

Here’s the deal, or what the deal ought to be: You don’t get to say these things, even if you finally decide to change your mind and apologize, nearly 24 hours later. You just don’t call young college women “nappy-headed hoes.”

If you do, you should lose your microphone, whether or not you are the bread and butter and honey and cash cow of the local sports station.

1. This all seems very strange to me since Limbaugh says worse shit EVERY DAY
and he is on several hundred radio stations across the country and is second only to Howard Stern in radio personality income.

Weird world. We ignore the elephant in the room to fight the mice.

NOT saying I agree with Imus. He's an asshole with an empty hat. Just weird.

3. And Imus Repented

Whereas OxyRush did not.

Is it possible for people to screw up without being destroyed?

6. Sure if it's a screw up, with Imus it's a habit
this isn't his first racist statement, it's one of many, and he's know for being more overtly racist in private.

7. Well, I will say that Imus is a repeat offender
Plus, he admitted on 60 minutes a few years ago that he had hired a producer to write offensive/racist/derogatory comments for him to use as material because the controversy helps his ratings and pocketbook.

All I was saying was that Limbaugh is sitting out there every day spewing worse and he is the one of the very highest rated and paid radio personalities. It just seems odd to focus on Imus when I am sure someone could cull through this week's Limbaugh shows and find worse.

Toss em both, I say.

more than a shell previously.

4. If Orrin Hatch can outright lie about Carol Lam on TV and get away with it....
and STILL sit in the Senate with a straight face, bro, we're all in the shitter.

8. Be grateful Limpballs was shit canned - Anus isn't in the same league
Imus saying this is like the tree falling in the forest - if nobody heard it did he really say it? The show has piss poor ratings. It has been canceled by at least three sports stations in this area because it was fuckin boring to the sports talk audience - 20 something dudes do not want to hear Anus talking to tim russert or Joe loserman. It's at the bottom of the ratings list for morning shows in the NY market. It wouldn't be on TV at all except it is simulcast by MSNBC and provides a platform for all the NBC pundit "talent" like tweety, russert, mitchell etc to be seen and heard as they pontificate. Anus is just a vehicle for them, but he has again demonstrated that he is pond scum and should be fired.

9. it is about profits and ratings
Rush got dropped because ESPN could not afford to lose its sizable black viewership...MSNBC stands by imus because there are hardly any black fans or listeners of any color to lose (i.e., most people that listen to imus regularly probably agree with him anyway, imo)
