Boomers ....... who can you think of to embody the most negative personage of your generation?
Edited on Sat Jul-18-09 09:44 PM by Stinky The Clown
I posted a separate thread asking for the most positive person. This one is for the brigands and scoundrels and shit heads.

If you answer, please provide a general indication of your age. I'm in my early 60s.

edit to clarify: The person must be a Boomer him/herself.

1. Bush The Lesser.
He exhibits every negative trait lauded by many of my generation, so much so he is almost a parody.

Early 50's.

44. Yep. Child of privelege...check.
Wastrel youth...check.
Legacy at elite eastern school...check.
Ran away from military service obligations...check.
Drunk and drug-addled...check.
Never had an actual job, ever...check.
Daddy fixed all his fuck-ups...check.
Was a failure at every venture...check.

I could go on for a while, but we all know this asshole wouldn't be believed if he was a figure in a novel, yet his actual life reads like some sort of evil Forrest Gump of the Boomers.

46. I've always found that classification dubious...
...I was born in '64 yet my parents' generation was the one that fought Vietnam, invented "hippies" and partied into the '70s.

The major engagement of my generation was Desert Storm. My sentiments, predilections, perspectives and tastes are far more in line with Gen X than Boomers.

62. The generational classifications are rigid bullshit
Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 06:45 AM by Tabasco_Dave
My mom was born in 1941 so she was not officially a boomer but she was a flower child, smoked pot and listened to the beatles. I've noticed that the decade you where born in is a better indicator of who you are culturally instead of some generational chart. The baby boomers who where born in the 40's have nothing in common with the 50's and 60's born boomers. I was born in 67 so I'm generation x but i have a lot more in common with 60's born boomers than 70's born gen xers.

68. Not true, really ......
I was born in the 40s, my wife, my brother, and her sisters, were born in the 50s. We have much more in common than not. That said, I identify my youth and formative years more with the 50s, them with the 60s.

There are no rigid *realities* about this, your assertion about "rigid bullshit" notwithstanding.

29. A small disagreement -
he was not pointless, although that vapid emptiness that defines him certainly would be seen as not having a point. Or substance. Or anything.

But, he had a point.

Alas, he had a a point.

It was to do evil. To do harm. To make damage, to lay waste, to kill, to maim, to ruin.

He did it. All of it.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

FWIW, the boomers' designation might end in '64, but 58-64 had a different experience than the Woodstock generation(I say this as a tail end boomer, I was born in '64 ).

That said, I think George W. Bush personified the worst of the boomers. And I think Clinton tried to be the best even if it didn't work out that way.

Obama, mho, like many of us of his age, grew up in the shadow of these boomers. I feel he is taking their best intentions and is trying to live up to what the boomers dreamed this country could be.

He doesn't always succeed, but I think he's doing the best he can with the cards dealt.

Edited on Sun Jul-19-09 06:14 AM by tomg
If you are asking who is the worst - as in evil - person of our generation, I would have to say Rove (lots of reasons). Bush was stupid, venal, incompetent, self-righteous, unaware and arrogant. O'Reilly, Limbaugh, and the rest of that crew are the most opportunistic, self-serving and bullying.
As I said in another thread, our demographic has more than its fair share of complete assholes.

But the biggest disappointment and the one who embodied both some of the best and the least admirable aspects of our time is Bill Clinton. He had ability, intelligence, and idealism. He also embodied some our less worthwhile traits (lack of self-restraint and letting the personal screw up the political). Finally, like so many of us, he did what was easy, obviously not bad but easy, and he wanted to be liked more than he wanted to be a great leader. He knew what was right, sometimes tried to do it, but more often triangulated. Actually, when I see Clinton, I see the overall failure of my generation as a whole (self obviously included) writ large.

61. Newt Gingrich - scum in human form. We have had a huge number of people
who were boomers, and we have had our share of interesting and yes, even good people, balanced by the largest crop of shits till now. I nominate Neut for king of the dung pile of worst of the boomers. He is totally without conscience, fixated solely on his own advancement and enrichment, and has little or no concept of other people as real human beings. He set the model for GOP politicians - and sadly some Democrats as well - in behavior and attitude for boomers as well as those coming after.

Newt Gingrich is real trash.

wonder why you'd think anyone is interested in the opinions of the most selfish, shameful, useless generation ever produced in this nation? According to some, probably many, here we Boomers brought nothing but pestilence, despair and death to the nation, the world, the universe. These same posters would be much relieved to see us mass suicide to relieve the drain on resources that we evidently represent.
