Pat Buchanan is far more than a racist. He's a life-long Hitler apologist

I've always joked that Buchanan celebrated Hitler's birthday every year. But I'm not so sure it's a joke.

The best comment on this topic was when he went off the deep end at the 1996 Republican convention and called for a culture war. Molly Ivins quipped that "his speech sounded better in the original German."

what I think Uncle Pat has going for him is that he's the last of the Nixon White House still around, still (sort of) coherent, still a living piece of that significant time in our country's history.

That's a lot, I think, of what keeps the pig Buchanan on these shows. And, as he grows increasingly racist and out of control, I hope they'll start to phase him out.

I fear you're right. There's always been a rule in the world of journalism -- "If it bleeds it leads."

I'm hesitant to call what passes for "news" today "journalism." But Buchanan and his ilk are a freak show that far too many can't help but watch. It's like people rubbernecking at a car accident trying to catch sight of some blood or a mutilated body.

Pat has become as comical as the German guy in Springtime for Hitler who wears a tuxedo with his Stahlhelm and who shouts to the audience that the Fuhrer is good and the Fuhrer is kind. Only the most bigotted racist, anti-semite, and mysogynist agrees with Buchanan. The rest of the country is shaking its head at this moron. Buchanan has become a spectacle at which people point their fingers as though they were seeing a live dinosaur at the zoo. If I were on MSNBC I'd go gonzo with him, having pretty girls wearing Nazi uniforms in short skirts and high boots bring him drinks during his hateful spew sessions on the air after which they'd kick up their legs in a chorus line as we hear Springtime for Hitler music.

I first came across him in 2002, when he wrote something in defence of the French neo-fascist LePen. My opinion of him then was at rock-bottom, and it's gone down even further since then.
