Action items for the I-pig in the Morning show
I have seen a lot of posts, as should be, denouncing the words of Don I-pig (Imus) both past and present. I thought it would be good to list some of the places where it might count to express your disgust. I watch sometimes for the guests, but I can give that up readily, and will starting tomorrow morning.

First is a post I posted yesterday:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=595692&mesg_id=596991

So, here is a list of sponsors for the I-pig

currently on the I-pig's home page:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036713 /

in the bottom left corner of the page. Let them know how you feel about their business's condoning such comments.

Here is a list of guests off the top of my head from recent shows. We may not be able to convince the MSNBC "reporters" to stay off the show, they propably have to. But what the hay, tell them anyway. But the senators and congress critters have an image and a responsibility (or so they told me in school). Ask them not to appear on the show, and thus not to condone such comments in the past and the future (cause you know the I-pig is just gonna do it again).

Senator Dodd
Senator Kerry and wife
Senator Biden
Senator Lieberman (ok, it's worth a try anyway)
Senator McCain (again, it's worth a try)

Here is a list of radio stations that carry the I-pig:

http://www.msnbc.com/modules/interactive.aspx?id=imus_s...

e-mail the show:

imus@msnbc.com

Let people know that this kind of hate doesn't sell anymore. And before you say that most of America loves this, no they don't. Look at the polls. We are the majority now.

edited to add:

upcoming performers on the I-pig's show: Let them know

And here is a post from Talk Left this afternoon:

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2007/4/8/163742/2877

Continuing with my media theme today, Bob Raissman of the New York Daily News puts his finger on why Don Imus will go unpunished for his racist comments (video here) about the Rutgers women's basketball team: Dollars. As in money the show makes through advertising.

Which leads to the next question: Who are his show's advertisers?

I don't know, since I don't listen and haven't found a list online. But, what I did find on his MSNBC show site is that he markets his own goods. Those should be easy to boycott. Like Imus Ranch Foods. He has a foundation to help kids with cancer spend time on his ranch, and the money ostensibly goes there, but you don't need Imus to help kids with cancer. St. Jude's is a great alternative.

And what about getting guests not to go on the show? Tim Russert is scheduled for Monday morning. Why doesn't he cancel?

Rev. Al Sharpton is going to file a complaint with the FCC and launch a picket effort Monday. It's not Imus' first offense.

Imus has a history of racially-charged remarks - he called PBS journalist Gwen Ifill a "cleaning lady" and The New York Times' William Rhoden "a quota hire."

If you see a list of show advertisers, please share it.

He shouldn't remain in the Radio Hall of Fame, either.

If you'd like to send an e-mail to his show, here you go.

feel free to add your own.

3. Imus doesn't owe the public an apology
He owes it to the young ladies, but instead, with his on air apology he only apologized for what he said "regarding the Rutgers basketball team". not the girls personally.
So I e-mailed his show and told him "to do so if he was truthful, and as tough as he thinks he is".

8. He might have "said that" but he worked hard to diss Kerry every
chance he had. Only good thing he ever said was that Kerry's wife worked with Deidra on a charity. But, he then called Theresa fat and a drunk.

9. Thank you for the Action Alert with the many links.
He uses his show to shill for funds ...it's like a running infomerical when he isn't spewing hate and snuggling up to or beating up on his "guests" who are usually pushing a book or Repug Talking Points.

10. Here's the Link to contacting the FCC...Complain about Imus using airwaves to solicit money
for his products along with his use of hate speech.

The FCC should here from those of us who've had enough of hateful, sexist, racist and homophobic speech by those using the People's Airwaves.
