Getting Tehran on the line could hold some promise

The Bush administration's resistance to more substantive contacts with Iran is a branch of the issue that had the White House frothing about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Damascus and her talks with Syrian President Basah Assad.

That sad White House display followed their virtual silence on the visit by Republican members to Assad the week before and the day after Pelosi's talk.

House Republican leader John Boehner was happy to play the White House's game. "She's going for one reason," he said of Pelosi's trip, "and that is to embarrass the president."

At this point in a hugely disappointing administration, the mind reels imagining what it would take to embarrass this president.

He HAS no sense of shame. He's a sociopath. He's an idiot. He's a cretin. He's a liar. He's a killer. He's a thief. He's a coward.
You'd THINK he'd be embarassed. But no. He stands at the podium twisting his feet like he has to go potty, and throws his little tantrums and tries to act as though it's his sandbox and they're his toys and everybody has to play by his rules.
