Latest Joke fr B of A >they want me to AUTOMATICALLY pay
the next charge by authorizing a withdrawal from my accounts in advance

How stupid do these bonus bangers take us for?

Like I'm going to give B of A a blank check in advance?

2. And strangely enough . . .
it's true. We would all be so much better off if we just got completely discouraged and quit the money game.

3. I had a couple of payments coming out of my account
one was a personal loan and the other was my second mortgage. I decided that I no longer wanted these payments to be automatic and went to the bank and asked how to have it stopped. The bank informed me that they had no power to have these withdrawals stopped. In other words the corporation that was taking the money from my account had the power over it and not me. Well, it pissed me off, so I closed my account after 25 years and opened a new one.

7. I, like you had to do the same thing
The auto payments were pocket change but the vendors were non-responsive. After pissing around for months to cancel the services, it became apparent the only choice was to close the bank account. My sister likes the convenience of auto pay but I'll never use it again except possibly for utilities. For me, I'd much rather deal with the hassle of doing regular payments than allow someone access to my bank account.

9. At my bank you can set up an auto pay that is made for you by the bank.
They send out the checks to your creditors. They give you the option of having it done automatically each month, or you can get online and make out the payments yourself. I will never again give permission to any of my creditors to take anything automatically from my account.

5. my nephew
was saying how convenient auto bill pay was...

this month his car insurance withdrew three times... he bounced his rent check, car payment, electric bill and all the insurance company will do is credit him for the next three months.
so he will have car insurance in a repossessed car without a place to stay.
Its ok though, he wont be needing the lights.

6. Credit unions are the only way to go
It used to be that you had to be related to someone to open an account at one. Not any more. I've been with mine for 20 years and they've never screwed me over once in that time. BofA is one of the worst.

8. So why do you keep doing business with them? Keeping your money there?
Seriously.

B of A isn't "harmed" AT ALL, AT ALL when you just complain on a message board. You've got to move your money/trust out of there into someplace else (a credit union?) that you CAN trust and won't be raping you six ways from 7th heaven!

Don't complain, CHANGE it.

10. I was with Fleet (since taken over by B of A)
I went home during the summer holiday. I lived in the Midwest and went to school in Boston. In the middle of July, my mother got a call from Fleet saying that I had overdrawn on my account.

I was thinking, "No I know I left some money in the account (20 dollars) before leaving. I always used my Minnesota card as it made more sense to use it here." I had another look at my bank records and I realised that they were charging me to have an account with them. As soon as I went back to Boston, I closed the account and asked the next bank, Century if they charge for having an account, they said no. So I signed up with them and they kept their word.

I left 10 dollars in my Fleet account and was hoping for those 10 dollars back. I closed the account and asked the secretary where my 10 was. She said, "You didn't have any money in the account."

Ugh, I'm glad to be done with these people.

As for auto-pay, the bank in the UK deals with these. They even remind me how much of an available balance I have.

11. as others have said
get out of b of a, wamu, chase and any of those supersize banks. Open a credit union account and become a shareholder. One other thing, never give anyone access to your checking/savings accounts, specially those guys.
