The post isn't removed, it is only relegated to measly regular post like the millions of others. Oh heavens, the world is ending, people are unrecommending my post from Greatest status!
understood the original purpose of the recommend thing to begin with. If you don't like a thread, or do, who cares? We're not making national policy or local law here or anything like that..........
6. I think it is a great place to read posts from like-minded people
and give my two-cents worth sometimes. Some people seem (I said SEEM) to attach more import to their posts and are easily hurt when disagreed with. The thought of losing a "Greatest" honor is now equated with stifling free speech!
I thought Tiananmen Square was squelching free speech...apparently DU is even worse!
it was really so had a way of picking out something that was very well written and giving that person a chance to have their post on the DU home page. Before that the admin would take submissions for guest writers from DU. So if I seem passionate about this it's because I want that homepage honor for those who write really great stuff. Stuff that makes me think, that makes me aware and that makes sense. But this past election the processed got hijacked by those who wanted to push their agenda on to the greatest page. First with the primaries (and both camps did it) and now you still see it especially with about 99.9% of these "K&R" type threads.
And people whine about their free speech being taken from them. Well hell, where is my ability to say "I don't think this is home page worthy"?
