Newt sounded like he was speaking French in his explaination
of what he meant my the getto remark! I just heard a replay of his statement on the David Lazarus Show on KGO Radio. I've heard a lot of people speaking Spanish. I lived in San Antonio for 6 years! I SWEAR, when I heard Newt, it sure didn't sound like any spanish I ever heard! It sounded like FRENCH! I don't speak Spanish, so I have no idea what he actual words meant, but if they were as odd as they sounded, I doubt he got any positive message across!

2. No. ;o) Nor have I heard people speak as much French as I have heard
Spanish, but there's a specific sound or tone to each of them. Iwasn't so much listening to the words he was saying as I was to the sound of his statement. For instance, in spanish you roll the r's, in french you don't. French always sounds like a softer, more flowery language to me.

Maybe I'm just nuts, but it didn't sound like the old Newtsterpracticed hisspeech as long as he should have.

3. Screw the Spanish-- check out his body language...
Not understanding much Spanish myself, I ended up concetrating on his expressions, and he didn't look at all apologetic.

Looked more like he was lecturing someone, but just going through the motions since he thought them too ignorant to understand what he was saying.

Wonder if any Spanish speakers picked up on that?

5. Somebody obviously quickly told him what to say in Spanish.
He had no idea what he was saying, he was simply parroting what someone had told him to say. He's an ass!
