8. You can't judge the existance of global warming on freak weather.
It takes tons of data and average temperatures to see a change. And I would have said the same thing to anybody who based the existance of global warming on the freakishly warm January weather we had too. It's silly to just look out the window and make a judgment.

10. Now you know why I call it global climate change
Climate is the earth's way of dealing with the inequality of energy at the equator and that at the poles.

You add more total energy to the system, and the mechanisms get more well, energetic. More snow, more tornadoes, more hurricanes, more heat waves...

It is like listening to Wagner at volume 1 versus volume 11. The forte and piano sections are there in the music already, but at ten you have to wipe up the wine and broken glass off the coffeetable.

32. Expect MORE of this as Global Warming ramps up
Extreme weather patterns, freak temperature changes and shifting thermoclines are to be expected.

And that means temperature changes in BOTH directions.

14. Climate crisis. I'm in Oregon. It's hit the '70s here, and usually we have snow now.
We didn't have enough snow this season, nor did we last season. The lack of snowfall impacts our water supply, which in turn affects all the ranchers here because it affects the quality and quantity of the hay crop, which affects the cost of hay, which in turn affects how much cattle can be raised and how well fed those cattle are. and of course affects the income of the ranchers and the cost of beef at the grocery store.

To those who mock "global warming," I hope you're writing down your words in a diary, so years from now you can read those same words and marvel at your nearsightedness.

16. We have about 11 inches of snow on our cars now in Greater Cleveland area.
Another whiteout just began again. Lake-effect snow will continue into the afternoon and into the night.

Snowfall Saturday afternoon will be 2 to 4 inches with another 3 to 5 inches tonight.

More snow is predicted on Easter and on Monday. It looks more like Christmas here than Easter.

17. Did Bush apologize for the Iraq War and all of his other crimes from the last 6 years or something?
Because I remember someone saying that there was a Snowballs chance in Hell of that happening.

And maybe we should ask V.P. Dick if Hell Froze over today too?

18. We have been getting horrendous lake effect snow from LAKE MICHIGAN - in central Ohio
this year the apple crop has been destroyed, my lilacs will have NO blooms, my weeping japanese maple will be leafless, my red stick dogwood bushes will be nekkid, and the sand cherries red sticks. I think I may have saved the hostas and a majority of the peonies, but I won't know until Wednesday when I uncover them from the tons of mulch...it has been in the low 20's every night for 4 nights here now, and will continue until Wednesday.

I even fear for the day lillies this year...they may bloom but they will have ZERO foliage.

It is supposed to be highs near 60's this time of year....our high today was 29 degrees, with 2.5 inches of snow on the ground and blizzard type white out conditions about once an hour.

What an effed up spring...the worst in my memory.

It feels the situation is grave enough to do that, I wish we would take more
responsible action on the problem.

21. we had heavy flurries and a light dusting here in East Tennessee last night
I thought I was seeing things at first. Thought it might have been small blooms blowing around because it was REAL windy. That was when the first few flakes started coming down as I was driving home from the store around 9 pm last night.

(SE Virginia), and that doesn't usually happen in April. Then again, we didn't get much snow at all this winter, so maybe it's trying to make up for it now? :P

And it snowed heavily here today too. First snow I've seen in the four years I've been here.

Monday is supposed to be back to the mid eighties.
