Pelosi: Bush administration threw a tantrum.
Pelosi: Bush administration threw a tantrum. The New York Times reports, via Mahablog:

Ms. Pelosi, in a telephone interview from Lisbon on Friday, said she could not account for the Bush administration’s assault, which she at one point equated to a tantrum. (She said her children were teasing her about Mr. Cheney’s accusation of bad behavior.) Defending her trip, Ms. Pelosi said that members of Congress had a responsibility to play a role in national security issues and that they needed to be able to gather information on their own, and not be dependent on the White House.

“I am used to the administration; nothing surprises me,” she said. “Having said that, I hope we can have the opportunity to convey to the president what we saw.”

1. Don't piss off the DECIEDER
He'll send you to a secret prison and torture you.
Remember when that couldn't happen here.
Back when we had a democracy.

3. I wonder if Bush will even meet with her.
He's made such a fuss about her trip that I imagine he won't. That will be extraordinary and probably a first in our country's history,

Well, the man is nothing if not a trailblazer, of sorts... :eyes: There have been many unfortunate "firsts" during his administration.

17. He only wants to meet
with people he already agrees with. He must feel very threatened by Pelosi's power, and her confidence. He prefers women like Laura, Condi, and Harriet, who swoon in his presence, and flatter him. Nancy Pelosi is too intelligent for him. He's a spoiled brat, and I believe we'll see many, many more temper tantrums as more people disagree with him.

28. Arrested development. Development arrested at what age - something
for the psychologists to figure out. How many psychologists are going to write papers or books on Bush and Cheney (and wow Rumsfeld and Wolfkowitz and Bolton an dNegroponte - there is so much there). Perhaps someone will come up with a thesis for their doctorate?

48. I don't think Laura swoons in his presence.
I think she is heavily medicated and escapes from the Whitehouse whenever possible. Look at the expression that is plastered on her face whenever she is with him.

10. OMG! First time I've seen the bottom photos!
Speaker Pelosi is doing a great imitation of King George's treatment of the German Prime Minister - remember the "neck rub?" It's evident that she has not only studied the issues, but has studied the man.

She is doing a masterful job of taking and keeping control and is refusing to be intimidated by tantrums, shallow criticisms, and political posturing. She has settled quickly and super-efficiently into her role, and blessings on her family, who are so supportive. Our Nancy Pelosi is the best hope we have to get these United States back to being the nation that we love.

By saying that she can't imagine why Bush would throw a tantrum, it makes it look all the more petty.

He talks about the Republican approach to government drawing on the 'strict parent' model and how the language they choose is deliberately meant to play to this idea.

If bushwad did his job she wouldn't need to take such drastic measures.

42. She is an expert at framing things
She's adept at deflecting stupid questions and reframing the issue. Her constant portrayal of the misadministration as childish, ill-tempered, and used to getting its own way(two years olds have better temperaments) is spot on and a real breath of fresh air.

I look forward to reading Pelosi quotes.
