Will Franken's unsigned Senate certificate become a modern Magna Carta?
The only reason King John of England signed the Magna Carta was because he realized that if he didn't, he was facing the prospect of a long and messy civil war with the nobles who swore fealty to him. But he held out as long as he could until the various barons were staring him down at the negotiation table.

I wonder if the same thing is going to happen with Al Franken's unsigned Senate certificate, still sitting untouched on Governor Tim Pawlenty's desk despite a unanimous ruling in Franken's favor from the Minnesota Supreme Court.

What's it going to take to force Pawlenty's hand? Do Minnesota DFL activists need to take a page from the Iranian playbook and stage massive rallies around the capitol building, with Franken wielding the bullhorn?

1. I hope it doesn't come to that, but
if necessary, we'll do it.

Sign the certificate, Pawlenty! Sign it today!

2. Actually, I'd love to see a massive rally at the capitol
This nonsense has gone far enough. Coleman and Pawlenty have turned Minnesota into a laughing stock, and Minnesota deserve much, much better than that.

5. Umm...I think it's over. I imagine Coleman will concede
and Dim Polenta will sign.

6. The fact that the MSSC is ordering Pawlenty to sign the certificate will save Pawlenty's career
He can say he signed it because it was court ordered. And since most of the front-runners for Republican Presidental Nominee are dropping off like flies, Pawlenty will still be fine if he opts to run in 2012
