Thank you moderators- Windows (poem)
One of the "excercises" my new therapist gave me was to write what I saw outside my window in poem form. She originally wanted a picture but I declined as I can't even draw a stick figure to save my life. Anyhoo, thought I'd bounce it off DU and see what you thought first

My view of the world through windows three
A name even given to each one of these.
“The Past” seen through the glass to my left
The center view is “The Now” that I see
And the one to my right named “Those Things Yet To Be”

The street runs the length of the panorama
Cars and people riding the road of time

Racing away to my left
Destination a mystery
Disappearing into unknown pasts
Memory the only proof of their history

Again I turn my head forward
To my window to “The Now”
An aged and beautiful tree is the first I see.
Reminding me that some things old
Survive the past and creep
If strong enough into the present

Through the dusty glass and beyond my tree
More examples of the busy “Now” of society.
Animals walking their people
Cars zooming to and fro
My aged tree presently surrounded
Trapped by concrete and unnoticed by travelers (except the dogs)
Little room for roots to stretch and grow

Through my right window lies the future
Those Things Yet To Be
I can’t see as much through the curtain
As with the other two; quite appropriately
I lift the veil for a view
Hints of hope are there.
New seedlings planted in the yard.
But will their roots be also inhibited
Like my friend in the center?

The cars and people hurry fast
Into the future as they did the past
Noticing not the seedlings or anything more
Just rushing blindly onto unclear paths
Changing nothing but direction
Past my windows
Where I observe but don’t engage
Trapped in my watchtower
But I see the full road
Those on it don’t take that luxury

Such is the world through my windows three.

7. Well, sadly, writing is no longer a paid profession.
The only people who will write will not make a dime for it. They can only post it to the Internet where others can enjoy it. It would be wonderful if Shadow could make a living writing, but writing for pay died its final death this year.

I do think it's terrific that good writers like Shadow share their souls and talents with us. I just think it's a pity that honing and practicing the great art of writing doesn't get the validation of real money that's foldable. Now, you have to do it ONLY because you love it.

6. Wow! Thank You!
That was really, really good. Beautiful imagery. Bravo! Thanks for sharing that and making my day and, I'm sure, that of many others. :)

P.S., I really like the animals walking their people and only the dogs noticing the tree.
